Hi there

Is PGI aware that the social system in the game leaves a lot to be desired?

It is so hard to add a "friend" and you have to spell their name exactly right with no reference but memory.

And then when you send them a message they still may not see it because its not obvious.

And when they've been deployed they won't get your message to ask them to join you in the Faction Group thus leaving them waiting and spectating their general match for 15 mins.

And you can't add players to your friends list from the match.

For an example of a good social system, please have a look at Volvo's Dota 2 system, where you can easily reach and choose to respond/reply while in game, and how easy it is to view someone's profile and add people as friends.

Agree with all but this bit.

When I hit the dirt, only those on that same dirt need to be able to Contact me, wether via Chat or VOIP. The last thing I need is Trolls pinging me via any method (scrolling up much needed game based text chat, for example) while in the Heat of Battle, just to say how much they love me... ;)

This is Lostech.

It was actually in the UI 2.0 designs, but never completed... because of UI 2.0.

You were supposed to have a quick list of players you met last match or something along those lines so you could friend, but we're a year after UI 2.0's release and you should know the rest of the story...

It is kind of amazing that there still is no chat overlay. Unless it's an engine related issue, a simple but functional one should be hackable in a day or two (resizable, movable, modifiable channels, etc). It's bizarre how little players can communicate on this game.

Leave all the chat options on in pug drops. They communicate plenty after that have died.

I´ve become very humble with my wishes to PGI.

I would settle for a friends list that is not buggy and not jumping to somewhere in the middle every few seconds.

Or at least a notification sound when someone sends you a message.

And a different notification sounds when someone invites you to a group or to add as a friend.

And a chat history (save a .txt file somewhere)

Now you launch into a game, d/c midway for various reasons, log back in a couple of days and read many various messages about why I haven't responded to their messages or why didn't I accept the group invite. I didn't even receive them, they must have sent them while I was deployed, and the message is lost after the d/c or crash.

I find it only does this if I click on a friend's name somewhere off the top of the list.
