What is it with players that will line up any red triangle on the HUD and rattle off shots totally blind.

Results in watching some idiot slam slugs/lasers into the side of a building/mountain from your own vantage point.

Especially if that red triangle is the last surviving member of the opposition and everyone is desperate to get that last Assist or kill.

Sometimes players aren't just trying to shoot through buildings and mountains - but through their team mates as well !

Several times I have been legging it toward the final couple of opposition mechs only to be shot in the back/arm/leg by some Numpty trying to get a hit in on that unsighted red blip from half way across the map.

( PS - Multiply the issue by 50 anytime you drop on the Swamp. )

The short of it is that Team Damage has never been penalized enough for people to actually care about it. During the Victor challenge - I remember one battle where *I* was the person shooting, intentionally, through an ally at the last target simply because I had fulfilled all other objectives but I had not gotten an assist yet. The ally's death wasn't going to change anything, but my putting even 1 point of damage on the target was going to make a difference. The ally didn't die, and I got my assist.

I'm a bad bad man, I can accept that.

Why not laser them even if you got a 10% shot of hitting its worth it. The only reason you would hit your own team is if there was a ecm. Really should k ow about where your team is. Most of the time there is little risk and If there is too much you dont fire. If I see a red box is the trees im going to fire.

It is simply because you might be able to hit it.

I played WoTs for years and I cannot count the number of kills, let alone hits I have made in that game based on blind shots firing at where I think the enemy might be. Same goes for MWO. If a red bracket pops up, it really costs me nothing to fire at the bracket. If it hits rock, then it hits rock but if it actually connect with the enemy, I am doing damage and it will at least potentially net me another assist. Often it nets me a flanking or perhaps a hit and run. Occasionally it nets me a kill.

That being the case, why WOULDN'T you fire???
