First of all, hello everyone as title says im new here, just started playing today, and just finished my last 'cadet' game.

After which i bought the Commando Com-2D, i like speed / mobility over punch / tankyness with an element of group support so I went with it for the ECM... but can anyone help me out with a decent loadout? :D

First off welcome to the forum ;) if you have team-speak installed and are looking for some friendly games/general advice click the banner in my sig. Even of you don't sign on with us, we're always happy to help new players and expand community.

As for the Commando, it is an excellent mech but difficult to play well. It is not what one I would reccomend to a new player. That said, I own 4 of them (including the hero) and have a lot of fun in them. Pretty much everything I could say about the "lolcust" applies equally to the "trollmando" Run Fast, Die Hard, Giggle like a mad clown with a butcher's knife while doing so. :D

My 2D loadout is keep the stock weapons load but upgrade the engine to a XL 200 and adds ECM

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...9dcd503e954703b

however that's a rather pricey specialists build for someone who is just starting out. Fortunately the 2D has one of the more optimal stock loadouts. For starters, just buy endo-Steele and put the tonnage into armor. Hide behind friendly assaults and steal kills and farm assists until you have the CBills for DHS and a new engine.

Whoohoo, a new commando pilot! Welcome to MWO! My 2d right now is running xl 210, ecm, mlas, 2 srm4 (in the arms for better aiming). I am away from the computer so sorry no smurfy link. Remember to get the most out of your mcj you will need 3 variants to unlock all of the efficiencies with the xl you are earning. I have the 2d, the Death's Knell, and the 3a. The first two are generally considered the must haves and then check out the quirks to pick a third. Or get them all :).

Don't hesitate to bring your questions here. We love listening to ourselves talk (type?). And if we can help someone else so much the better :D

Happy hunting Mechwarrior!

I started in spiders so I feel your pain, but once everything starts to click for you lights are a super fun weight class to pilot.

Welcome to mwomercs, Mechwarrior!

Well, the Commando is the 'mech you start out with in Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries. It's not bad in the right hands. That link HlynkaCG supplied has a lot of loadouts. www.sarna.net has a lot of ideals for stock loadouts (intended builds for 'mech variants) which I refer to so I can get a decent idea of what I would fair well with or if I can improve on the model to best suit my playstyle.

Playing around with the mouse sensitivity in game helps a lot too with your aim. I normally jump into the Training Grounds found in the Home Tab in game to find a good setting so I can snipe and/or actually hit my target without being too sluggish (having to lift the mouse and set it back down again to look one way) or being too fast (sneeze and you're focusing all the way to the right when you were just looking all the way to the left)

Here's a build I ran with a few times that I liked. [EDIT]As I forget to include the link.. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...a9dbbfd1491b954 [/edit] But you're free to change it up however you want. Personally I don't like XL Engines if I can get away without them 'cause they make it easier for your 'mech to get taken out as Innersphere XL Engines only need one side torso to be taken out to destroy the 'mech in battle. But again, build your 'mech however you want.

About Engines, it's cheaper to purchase a 'mech you want, then when you're done with it, strip it from all equipment and sell the chassis while keeping the equipment to equip on another 'mech instead of buying a new Engine outright.

The forums as well as the community here in mwomercs are rather nice with giving information and tips to our new recruits/members. I hope you enjoy your time here with us, Mechwarrior!

Commandos are not new-player-friendly. But that said...

Here's some builds I've used in the past.

Distance Spamdo!
Streakdo!
Deadly-mando
WTF happened!?-Oh!!
Com-of-Trades
Com-Snipe

The Commando 2D is not my favorite of the Commandos, however. ECM makes many builds that I would prefer over it rather difficult to achieve.

Welcome to MWO.

If you do end up enjoying Commandos, you should consider a Myst Lynx. :)

Not newbie friendly, but very hard to hit those fast moving targets.. never stop moving, and stick with your assault buddies,, and try to get behind the big boys.... Nothing drives a Dire wolf pilot more insane than a commando they can't even see let alone target rip their back side to shreds...

good luck! and do what the other guy said, Grab an XL-200, they are pretty cheap, and will help a ton.
