Well, The 4X and 2X make a good LRM 20 platform and thus it is one of the very few IS mechs that can decently do an LRM boat however modules are required. (I ran a LRM 20 2X for quite some time and I enjoyed it, pre modules and quirks.)

The 4X is quite nifty due to the 2 Machine guns, do not underestimate them, even though they are worse now then ever they still have an insane DPS and can easily give you in co injunction with medium pulse lasers and SRM 6 a 500+ damage game every time (unless you bump into a king crab and didn't run away fast enough...)

The jumpjets are also a bonus, It's only 10 kph slower then a 3L which I do not see a huge drawback. It is still as fast as the fastest clan mech in MW: O thus far. If people are complaining about the 4X and 2X sucking then I have no idea why they even look at a kitfox or adder in there mech bay.

The 4X once made an interesting AC2 counter-sniping platform. See sniper, wiggle about while rocking his world. Not so great anymore, but hey. Nostalgia!

Try these two builds, they were fun and good for me http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3dec9e7a13d2e34

I know there is a 220 xl engine but i had that build before engine cap for 2X was really low,and i still do good with that build so i havent still changed it,and plus you can look it as a challenge,if you do good with this build you will get a lot of question marks over other people's heads while they are asking themselves how the hell did you do it in a such a bad mech like that ! :D

Thats just too slow IMHO for a Raven.

I really am struggling to see a reason to keep the 2X or 4X in my stable. The 3L has a place as ECM sniping or striking mech, but I don't see any good reason to run the 2X or 4X vs. a Firestarter A or Ember (or most Jenners) at the 35T slot.
Was hoping one or both would get insane quirks like the Dragon 1N AC5 to elevate the 2X or 4X from 'got it to level our the chassis for the 3L' to 'fun spam oddness build for kicks'. But the quirks seem underwhelming.
This is the best I can come up with, and it is underwhelming compared to pretty much most other lights.

Anyone out there rocking the 2X or 4X and having fun with it?

YES! I love the RVN-2X of all my heart! I've been playing the 2X and 4X way more than the 3L, ever since I started. The 4X is kind of tricky because it doesn't have enough hardpoints to get good DPS. Especially since PGI went and nerfed MGs. TBH, I just use the RVN-4X with ERLL+LL+2MGs right now. I tried 2MPL+SRM6+2MGs for a while, but... that's basically a short range build that just gets you killed against other short range lights, such as the Firestarter.

My RVN-2X build is LPL+3ML and let me tell you it's nasty. The extra range is great, and the heat reduction for the LPL allows you to keep up decent DPS.

Anyone who says the RVN-2X is a bad light mech needs to git gud.

Besides. It look way too cool with that shield arm to leave it in the mechbay.

2X is fantastic with either 2 LPL or 2 LL, 2 ML, max engine. I haven't tried the 4X but the 2X is wonderful.

2x is awesome with 2 LPL and level 5 modules. much better than 4x. think I run a 265 on it.

The 2X is a terrifying mech in the right hands.

This one is particularly efficient, even more after adding the proper modules: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...6e21b87b197c91b

I was just going to post that as my favorite Raven build. I run mine with mlas range module. And a pirate themed camo, its too cute on that one, couldnt resist.

My 2X has a XL275, 4 MPL cooled by 15 DHS. I build this 2 years ago and just upgraded the engines once the cap got upped. Liked it 2 years ago and still like it. You can fire those 4 MPLs for quite a while which is very helpful on hot maps. Granted me a lot of easy kills on Terra Therma because my targets (mostly other lights) just overheat at a point. I'm confident enough in this build to hunt other lights down with it.

My 4X feels a little bit dirty. I tried many different builds and coudn't find one I liked. And then I just followed the rule 'when in doubt put PPCs on it'. The 4X runs with a XL235, 2 PPCs, 10 DHS, 4 JJs. All I need to say is I was well prepared for the arrival of my Panthers :D

These are my builds and they are awesome:
RVN-2X
RVN-4X

I usually get a few kills with them and around 100 points in an average match, unless the whole team gets stomped or I get really unlucky.

2X is a monster and my highest damage scoring mech (pre quirk even) 4x is worthless.

try the 2 with 4x mpls, 275xl and as many dhs as will fit with cooldown and range modules. Its very effective

The 4X can be worthless in the hands of a bad pilot. With 2MPL and ASRM6 it's a deadly litter bugger that pops out, hits hard and disappears fast.

Because AC20 Raven's are badass. You can do it on a huggin also but i like to have 1 setup for gauss and one for AC20.

I do enjoy my 4x with its AC/20 I have to say though I feel like the 4x gets a bum rap because people dont know how to use it. Most times if you see a raven its in a sniper sort of function but if you slap a 20 on it you have to shift away from the light hunting and sniping to beating against the front line or possibly even the gun boats lobbing missiles from afar. Its higher risk but definitely a more fun way to do it in my personal opinion....just be sure not to get shot much as the lack of armor because of the weight needed makes you just about paper against any heavy.
