4 energy
4 missile
or
4 ballistic
3 energy
3 missile
or
6 ballistic
2 energy
2 missile
??????
The changes in Variants seems pretty linear...... but holy heck did we ALL underestimate the hardpoints.

I might attempt something to the effect of 2 Gauss + 4 ML + 4 missiles of some kind (maybe Streaks?). And then there's the mandatory 4 UAC/5 build and AC/40 with laser backup. I imagine some doofuses might turn their Crabs into LRM boats lol.

well, if they get arm'd right and left, might not blame them, lol.

But might have to try for 2x LB-X, 4x MPL (or ML with AC10s) and 4x aSRM4 on it.

UAC/5x4
AC/20x2
Gaussx2
AC/2x6
Not exactly what the thread is about, but I totally plan on having one King Crab for every stupid level of dakka

AC2 Dakka-WUB Lulz
Did you know 3 LPLs and 3 LLs make 36 tons? Crit slots are off...oh well. Downgrade the LPL to MLs, get extra DHS?

Although, I might also do Dual Gauss and TriPPC if available... Those high-mounted energy hardpoints will be a very, very good friend of mine :-)

There's a video of the NGNG guys running a 6AC/2 and LL (or was it LPL?) build. It had pretty severe heating issues, even when not firing all those AC/2s at full rate.

That's close to what I was thinking.

I will say, back in that hardpoint estimation thread way back? This is exactly what I guessed we'd get. Everyone thought they'd cap out at 8 max though.

The 6 AC/2 build has only 1 real utility, and that's being able to fire 3xAC/2 from around corners... firing more than 3 at a time triggers Ghost Heat, and it scales exponentially with each more gun you shoot... 6 is brutal. I know because I have a Jager DD.

Yeah, 6AC2 is totally pointless. Even without the near inevitable ghost heat issues, it's waaaaaay too hot to actually do anything useful.
And anybody bringing a stack of AC2's and chainfiring them needs to be slapped in the face. That's just dumb.
Prosperity Park, on 06 December 2014 - 08:58 PM, said:
May as well bring 3AC2 and 2AC5 in that case, though. You just can't fire 6 AC2's at once, in any useful way.

That's because he was engaging exponential ghost heat.
6 AC2s has less ghost heat than firing 7 would give you; 0.81 extra heat.
They are hot as sin on their own, but you need to alpha them.
