I was reading the lengthy post about LPs in CW and realized I had no idea what they might actually do.

So what do loyalty points do for me?

Could someone point me at that explanation? (Or just tell me)

From the new info, basically what I took from it was faction levels.

Loyalty points are basically xp for a faction that will unlock ranks (private, corporal, etc) and possibly some camos or other visual stuff. As you raise your LP in one faction another will go down. So getting LP for Davion will likely lower Capellan LP.

So yeah, Faction levels with the possibility of some cool fluff as you rank up is my understanding of it thus far.

They did say in the Sep 24th CW update that premium time would affect xp and C Bills in CW the same way it does in public matches. That implies you'll get C Bills, but I'm not sure if they've explicitly stated you will. I think most of the coverage of the LP system has just been to explain how the new mechanic works rather than saying its the only reward in CW.

They are planning to balance cbill earnings to equal those from solo/group queue. LP will unlock titles and maybe other fluff for a start.

Also keep in mind this will be CW Phase2 without economy, so LP, CBills and XP will be your earnings, but you will not have to repair or any other cost for now.

Maybe in the next phase, the economy will link prices, repairs and available goodies to your LP rank per house/faction.
But for now, we have to wait

I just had to ask after reading the lengthy post about contract lengths and LP bonuses or whatever.

I thought I missed the cool rewards for Loyalty Points somewhere.. Guess not! =)
