I'm currently running MWO at a consistent 40FPS, however it seems to be capped at this limit. Is there any way I can get past this? I'm currently running the following system:

Nvidia GTX 760
Intel i5 4690K @ 3.50GHz
16GB Corsair Dominator RAM
Nvidia Drivers: 344.75

Are you saying you only get 40 in the training grounds? Are you saying you never dip below 40 in combat? Do you have a graph for any of this?

All the fps limits I know had to have been set be a user of the comp in question, but you make it sound like I can rule that out.

There is v-sync, and it's implications; Try this: Turn off v-sync in the game, then go into the nVidia Control Panel, find the MWO listing, and set to "force off" there; Tell us what changes.

Looks like you may have a program that does this for you. its called nvidia inspector.

here is a link to someone else who had the same problem.

side note, if you enable vsync and your monitor is at 40hrz like the picture below, thats your problem

VSync was off. Problem solved. A friend told me about the user.cfg and to simply add sys_MaxFPS = 120. I run at a constant 90 at least now in combat.

I am curious why would you have to change the user.cfg file to get more than 40fps.

the game should run beyond 40fps normally with no user.cfg file at all. something else is going on with your pc settings, but if that works for you, good job.

Greetings all,

PGI did mention that they had to place a cap on the FPS for the MechLab, it was trying to max out the FPS on systems that could achieve crazy frames. I think they capped it at 60FPS to stop crash's.
- In game is a different story.
