You'd think people would learn after a while, but pointing guns at 100 ton carnivorous creatures doesn't end well.

Giant animals on hostile worlds exist in-universe. There are actual planets with a tourist industry that revolves around big game hunting in mechs.

I would be so super, super pissed if we finally got PvE for MWO and we weren't even fighting hovercraft, elementals and myrmidons, but big insects and dinosaurs instead.
Helicopters... light mechs... Calliope turrets... LRM carriers... dropships...

the question would be how lasersafe it is, (but even trees don't get harmed due to the gamign aspect ^^) otherwise it would stomp even an atlas to death without noticing it, its oversizred its probably superheavy, and its mandibles would probably be able to cut a atlas into two.
on the other side, maybe chewing the atlas would make the engine explode and with it the head of the beast and its done.
