I've had this a few times. Seems to happen more frequently in the DWF and TBR.

Take a hit to the centre, and the damage seems to be magnified to a stupid amount.

Example:

That was from a single PPC hit from a Battlemaster.

I know it was nothing else, because he was the first enemy mech to charge, nobody else was about and I took no other hits.

I've had it before where ive felt this type of damage only to see someone firing gauss into me from somewhere else.

Also, the enemy was in front of me, i was alone with nobody behind, yet the damage to the rear is the same, despite me taking no rear fire?

Anyone explain?

No idea how a single hit from ONE PPC would do that. If it were two PPCs, however, it's possibly not impossible that one shot could hit the side torso and the other just barely hit something mapped as rear CT.

However, it is a bit more likely that, in your case, the shot actually clipped through and scored in your rear. It's a known, rare issue IIRC. Still highly unlikely it is the cause.

I suspect you may have actually taken a hit from behind by someone else you just didn't see and the battlemaster hit your side torso, thus producing the illusion that it nailed your rear CT from the front.

Your front CT is still fresh.
PPC hit your side torso.
Teammate opened your rear armor.

The most reasonable explanation is that you just didn't see the second shot that hit you, or it was a laser so you didn't hear the sound effect over the impact of the ppc.

People generally don't have perception skills that are as good as they *think* they are, after all.

There was definately nobody behind me firing.

It was crimson, and my lance started near the water, sort of near where Epsilon is.

I wait at epsilon as they ran off to the saddle.

The first mech through the tunnel was the BM, as the enemy lights came over the saddle.

Mech under ECM sniped you in the rear where the armor is thin. Looks like just enough to wipe out the armor and maybe do a few damage to the internals.
