Yeah. TWC negotiations still ongoing, just as an update.

I read on the WOW forums that some WOW players on TWC were getting their data routes through one hop on an AT&T network and it was being throttled, Blizzard was able to get that corrected. Also I read that TWC was treating some LOL traffic as P2P sharing traffic and throttling it. No idea if that information is useful or not.

WoW and LoL need to be throttled, they're like crack or meth.

Meanwhile, MWO's traffic getting throttled is interfering with my ability to freebase stompy robot action.

If this isn't resolved by the time my month of pingzapper is up, I might be switching to AT&T Uverse. Anyone here have experience with Uverse in Austin and game pings?

If you do some searching, a while back there was an issue with ATT throttling mwo traffic but it's since been resolved as far as I am aware.

The (only) good thing about TWC is it has no data usage cap, whereas AT&T does. As long as you're not a heavy Internet user or your family is the same way. That's about all I know about it, but it shouldn't be throttled at all.

No data caps is why I'm still with TWC. With the Comcast merger pending, I've been watching our bandwidth usage. So far, we've been under their caps for the GigaPower product we would be getting from AT&T.

Really, I want Google Fiber, but that's looking like it will be at least a year before they open sign-ups for my neighborhood. Only good news is that my neighborhood is in the "coming soon" zone on Google's Austin map. So really, it's who do I get Internet access from for the year or two it takes Google to build out their network to my neighborhood.

Google is a peer on our network - should get good speeds indeed with them.

Also, I notice there are a lot of people interested in this topic. I'll post it without any comment:

My average FPS has nearly doubled since yesterday's patch, but I can't enjoy it because rubberbanding has gotten exponentially worse. I have been dealing with ping spikes for a few weeks, but they seem to be becoming more frequent (maybe TWC is throwing a tantrum over net neutrality).

Yeah, just read that the FCC won in court, so we will see how this works. I fear that more ISPs will retaliate with data caps though.

They were trying to pinch pennies by using underpaid peer networks instead of expanding their own networks and the peer networks are protesting to get more money, from what I have read.

For what it's worth, I made a little survey here http://goo.gl/forms/2nFiyusKTf

I'm not sure how we'll use the info, but it never hurts to HAVE info.

Here's a link to the responses, so the responses WILL be public.

I'm in Austin on TWC as well, and this afternoon I'm pinging in the 75-90 range when just last night (and for the last 4 months) I've had 105-125 type pings in game. If something changed, woot? Hopefully this will hold.

Im in Ohio and we are switching away from $lime Warner. I had NO problems before the server migration. Even with my GF watching Netflix.

Now, she goes online to check email or watch a youtube vid and my ping bounces from 50 -2000+

Sad part is the monopoly ISPs have on 'local service areas' here. Have to jump through hoops to find alternatives.

Jon,

Whatever y'all did, but I'm gaming at ~70-80ms ping right now, versus 110+ yesterday :D
TWC Dallas, 100/5 cable.

Many thanks!

My ping over the last several matches has been back to what it was before, ~80ms.

Maybe the accounting period between TWC and their peer reset, and they stopped the throttling.

I was intrigued so I turned off the VPN.

I played 1 public game and 2 private games so far. No throttling to report yet.

That certainly makes a lot more sense. Hopefully this gets resolved soon, I need my stompy mech fix.

Same here. I am actually seeing 70-80ms..the bottleneck at the OVH IP is gone tonight. I wonder if someone at OVH.com actually read my forum post and did something. Could the world really be that bright sometimes?

well, I hope we find out what was actually the culprit rather than a big mystery that magically went away.

Just did a CW game, no throttling
