I'm new to the Mech Warrior universe and all. I saw the Item in the mechlab called C.A.S.E. It was an ammunition managment item. Great, but what does it actually DO?

Prevents your mech from blowing up when your ammunition is hit.

C.A.S.E makes sure, that if your ammo stoage is struck and causes that ammo to explode, that that explosion is deflected outward, minimizing damage done to the mech.

I also recommend that site for every other inquiry you may have about the gaming background

pretty much this. It can only be used in tosro slots, since they keep ammo explosions away from the engine.

This man has the right of it. But keep in mind that the CASE only affects the ammunition kept in the same location.
And if i remember correctly CASE cannot be mounted in the arms.

A similar system is on most modern tanks such as M1, Merkava, Leclaric, Chalanger II... and so on

Cellular Ammunition Storage Equipment - C.A.S.E.

It's a containment system for storing ammunition (Inner Sphere 'Mechs can only mount them in the Torsos, Clan Omni's can mount 'em anywhere). What it does is, in a situation where your ammunition explodes, it contains and redirects the explosion, so that the damage is limited to only the area where the ammunition was stored, instead of the damage affecting the surrouding areas.

So, without CASE, an ammunition explosion in either your right or left torso would, typically, result in nearly the complete destruction of the 'Mech.

With CASE, only the torso area it is stored in suffers the damage, saving the CT and other areas from damage. You can typically still fight, although you'll be hurting.

all over the forums there are rederects to the battletech wiki,.. altough that's nice for some background info it is not a miror image what is happening ingame,.. things are not completly the same,.. in this case the fuctions match but the ditails do not,.. it may be so that with other things even functions may not be the same,.. so indeed there are no stupid qwestions, only stupid answers,.. better to ask on a forum and use gamers-experience-info then look on the wikki for the guideline's,.. personaly still waiting for a MWO-wikki but that probbely not comming till this gets out of beta otherwise eatch patch brings change and outdate's the wikki,.. still nice site to check do !

More people can learn of this nice fellow.

Don't treat new people like noobs! Everyone is new to something at some point, and It feels good to have others to help and guide you as opposed to being trashed talked.

Case is useless on mechs with XL engines as losing a side torso will kill you. Case stops the ammo explosion propagating further than the side torso that the Case is installed in but does nothing to protect the side torso itself.
