Hey guys,

I recently switched to a mobile gaming laptop and found out how thermal throttling works with intel cpus and its effects on gaming. The i7 4710hq runs at 2.5ghz and turbo boosts to 3.5ghz. However, as soon as your thermal threshold is hit, the cpu will throttle back to 2.5ghz until its cool enough.

To get around this limitation. Throttlestop allows you to set your CPU speed at a set specific speed which won't generate the heat high enough to induce the cpu throttling.

For example, my cpu i set to 3.2ghz which always stays 3-4C below inducing throttle limitation to 2.5ghz. Sure it's not as fast as 3.5ghz, but its stable and keeps my fps steady.

Hope this helps for you guys.
