Hi All,

I'm enjoying the new King Crab, finally something to go toe to toe or claw to claw with the Dire Wolf :)

But I'm wondering how the claws work since I sometimes see them open on other mechs and sometimes closed... Is it automatic? Since you can't see your own in the game its hard to know.

Are they like the missle bay doors? You can leave them open by pressing the "/" key?

You also use the missile bay door button.

/ should be default IIRC

There's not much of a reason to actually do this though, since there's no fire delay from the claws being closed.

The claws don't have the same delay and damage reduction as missile bay doors, so there isn't much reason to open them besides intimidation.

That said, it's the same key as the missile doors : "/"

I think the "no delay" mechanic should be added to all bay doors tbh....

I know there's no delay, but are you sure that there's no damage reduction when they're closed? I thought Russ confirmed that there was before it came out.

I only agree if missile bay doors aren't giving the 10% damage to that location while closed.

Do the claws also provide a buff to armor? If not, agreed. If so, then there's no difference and any mech with bay doors just got a nerf.

Pretty sure I remember reading something about that as well.

And I concur! I THINK I remember seeing something about the armor bonus for bay doors being removed with the quirkening, though I'm not certain, and I can't find a link.

I remember that the Centurion had its bay doors removed around that time, because it got updated Geometry too, and they just got rid of the bay doors completely (not just its damage reduction bonus), but I don't ever recall hearing anything about the KC's bay door bonus getting removed.

Missile bay doors give a +10% damage resistance buff while closed.
The claws need to be tested for this, but I have noticed that when firing a lot (I use MGs) my arms tend to go quickly compared to when I'm not using them (due to PPC / LRM shooting), but range could be a factor there.

Also: Centurion lost its door and thus its bonuses.
The Vindicator never got its conceptualized door, thus never getting a much needed bonus (considering the Vindicator is BIGGER THAN A TIMBER WOLF while the Black Jack is just as tall as a Dragon; which is smaller than TBR).

fun and epicness, bets reason ever. sololy for this I was looking wha key that actually is.

but it looks a bit weird, that those claws pop open as if they were made of paper or plastic.

Easy to test. Put 20 armor in your KGB (yes, I know it's wrong, shut up), and go to a private match with someone who has an AC20. Let him shoot you in both opened and closed configurations.

You can easy see your own claws.
Just take a look to one side of your cockpit (free look) and put the aiming cursor up (free arm movement is needed). You should see the upper part of the claw. Now shoot and see the claw opening/closing.
:)
