Now that we have CW, it's apparent that a large number of gold elite roleplaying clanners are finding that they're not as hardcore cool as they thought.

This is a result of playing in the kiddie pool for too long. Consult the following picture, which I made in the dark days of 2012.

It remains as relevant to this day as when it was made. In CW, there are no mechanics to protect you from those living on the peak. If you find yourself assaulting a planet held by mega tryhards, who are actually good, it's probably better to leave them alone, or wait for your faction's actual tryhards to go and challenge them.

Yes, you need a team to do anything in CW.
Yes, you need to bring good builds.
Yes, most of what you've been telling yourself for years were simply lies.
No, you're not a special snowflake.
No, you can't bring 4 lights and win.
No, you can't play 'counter-meta,' or 'against the grain,' or bring 'escort lights.'
All these can be voided, but if you do, you're gonna have a miserable time, and after losing your faction so many planets and games, people will hate you quite a lot.

If you feel that you can't take it in CW, both the old drops remain available. Like during the 8 manz, not everybody is cut out for this.

Oh, I'm exactly as good as I think I am.

In other words, At my very best I'm passable, barely. At my worst I'm an embarrassment to the human race and all should turn their gaze away from my countenance to display to the world that I should be shunned for suckitude of epic proportions.

And if people are going to hate me for my skill (or rather lack thereof) then that's fine. They may also feel free to bite my mech's shiny metal posterior, because I'm way to old and over the hill to assign any importance to the fact that someone on the internet may not approve of me. :)

I was wondering how long it was gonna take for you to post this.

Without Elo protecting the scrubs....

Crush your enemies. See them driven before you. Hear the lamentations of their women.

The Gundam Wing Online thing needs to be changed.

Jump sniping isn't exactly an OP tactic anymore. I'm going to do it in CW though

Just defended solo dropping against teddy bears in my so-called "mediocre" mechs (Kintaro, Hunches, Awesome) and won with only two mechs lost and 2500 damage.

My team was mostly solos from what I could tell, the teddies all had unit names...

I prove you wrong.

I really miss the days of the 8 mans. Most of the games were competitive and close. Then the 'crowds' appeared. It hasn't been the same since.

You only proved that in a sea of bad mechs and bad players, the side with the best mechs and the best players won.

So no. You're all gonna have to upgrade to good robots soon. All those worthless trashmechs will eventually fade out of CW, because they're a liability, and the bads will abandon CW once they realize that they have no chance against even passable drops.

Plenty of bad units out there. Plenty of 'role players' and such too. Mediocre mechs will work well against their mediocre mechs. Or even their mechs they copied off of Smurphy's. But you will know good players when you face them.

The Clan vs Inner Sphere match-up is extra interesting now, because a lot of people have been playing Clan mechs just to kill time untill CW. The game grew too stale.

Now that CW is here, many Inner Sphere veterans are probably returning to their good old bread and butter builds, as the time has finally come to repell the invaders. No more Steiner, Kurita and Davion players dropping in Hellbringers and Gargoyles for fun. They've all returned to their faithful Tier 3 mechs.

Unfortunately no, maybe next round of quirks will bring them up to par?

They are okay. There was a slight JJ improvement a while back.

So far the main thing I'm taking away from this thread is a desire to actually play Gundam Wing Online. I mean, imagine if the Summoner had "jump jets" like the Wing Gundam and a big ass Buster Rifle. It might not suck so much then :D

Where am I?

my first CW game with my alt account: (Grimmrog) who had only trial clanners available: Nova, TBR SCR adder. unfortunately as I dropped in the TBR I as the last and so I survived like 30 seconds amongst those 8 mechs gatehring at the dropship q.q

Posted Image

bit strange that a full tiral clan setup made me still bets player in my team :/

First true match with my real account:

Posted Image

we lost, time ran out and so we made an last ambush rush which was quite pointless. But damn the match was actually fun. and I still made most damage. But whats damage worth if you lose in shame xD.

didn't had a chance to defend so far, must be even more fun.

unfortunately the worst mistake all F2P games make is driving away their largest player base, in this case mid level "scrubs", hopefully this wont lead to that and people will find getting stomped a fun experience

mwo wont be a very fun game if its only populated by a small amount of elites, make no $ and die out
