Okay, seriously
ColossalMechs: Slightly better than stationary target practice
QuadMechs: Bug hunt! But the most appealing out of the choices, so it got my vote
ProtoMechs: Because the "Toads" weren't bad enough. Oh, and piloting them makes you go insane? Fun.
LAMs: It's like a Giant Robot Turkey Shoot. But too close to RoboTech for me.

That's my stab of humor tonight. I don't know if I would mind seeing some of these in-game, but I don't see myself piloting many of them.

acturaly robotech is the reason lams were remove from the game

^_^ A lil bit exaggerated, huh? Own config.?
The original armament is: Two Medium Lasers and a Streak SRM-2 launcher. Equipped with 8 jumpjets.

Quads - Sure, great, why not.
Protos/BA - In time possibly (also in line with game time)
ColossalMechs - Huge sitting duck...Massive fire power yes, but not cost effective to field or transport ;verdict NO
LAMs - NO...just... NO

I voted option 5, but with a little balancing I would be cool with all of them. I just don't want to see a team of colossals. However, if a colossal took multiple pilots (in turn making one colossal equal to multiple smaller 'Mechs) I would be fine.

I do believe that if we are going to go with the fluff on this one, I thought that a colossal battlemech REQUIRED, several pilots, and the held positions of like pilot, gunner, and one was a commander I think, somebody please check me on this.
EDIT: I looked it up and yes it requires three pilots.

Now I am for all of the mechs, because they all have their uses. Like the LAMs would be perfect for recon, so would quads, along with the fact that they have the to possibly bring in more firepower then the bipeds, after the fact that they are more maneuverable. The protomechs would be excellent at hiding, and providing intel on approaching enemy forces, and the colossals, they would make for some epic boss fights.

So the 3025 era only uses Quads and LAMs so that should stay true.

I would be interested in the >100 ton mechs only if they implemented the quad leg style. Other than that, it doesnt seem very necessary for the franchise to go any higher.

Well not to get nerdy but the Clans tried to Make larger mechs but failed. The largest I know of is the mech on the cover of the 3055 tech readout.

Quad Mechs are fine. LAMs... no. Doesn't make sense to make something that doesn't fly as well as an AV or survive a fight as well as a Mech. And that whole transformer thing is wrong for the MechWarrior universe.

100 tons is it. Always. Forever. The end.

Too Bad. 150 Tons is canon now.

Its gone. Wobbies had it a bit and all the factories producing them are gone. An outside of WoB, the DC had the last functional factory, until the nova kitties decided to make sure that factory was utterly destroyed.

Yeah the Cats destroy it this year. Parts and Stinger LAMs will not be in danger of extinction for a few more years. Though they do become a dying breed.

As for me I would love quads. Pity the only quads available in quantity as of 3050 are both unseen designs. Unless PGI and IGP can pull off one of the ultimate legal coups in entertainment history then we are not going to see quads until the Tarantula comes out.

Quad Mechs all the way. Proto-Mechs could possibly work if there's ever a time line skip. LAMs would just be, "Oh look a flying mech...nevermind it got shot down." Colossals? No just no.

the answer is short, "All of them will be great in some other game"

MWo is a session game. Devs have a lot of trouble balancing just 'mechs and weapons. I hope that, when they finally gain enough experience and when MWo comes to it's dawn, we'll see a full scale game with all kinds of 'mechs, infantry, tanks and aviation.

Quads: I love Quads. There's not many good ones in 3049-3050 and they're apparently harder to animate/code, but I'd never object to one being added.

LAMS: A horrible idea invented only to make use of the artwork. I'll accept 'em as canon but they are supposedly insanely rare and mostly in museums now anyway and they are just plain stupid. Avoid them entirely.

Colossals: Oh Jesus Christ NO.
Protomechs: When I heard about them I thought they were cool. I saw their stats, I thought that was interesting, too. Then I SAW THEM.
