Apparently CW just magically dropped today with no warning whatsoever and a lot of us got assigned by our team leaders into factions that we do not want to play for or simply because we do not have the needed mechs for it.
What i've found out so far for those trying to leave their faction :
- Leaving your UNIT will still keep you in the faction that the unit leader chose. This action is entirely free.
- Leaving the FACTION (Breaking the contract) before the timer expires is possible but will cost you a mountain of cbills.
What i've been wondering is what would happen if we joined a different unit aligned to a different faction.
For instance consider that chain of events :
1/ Player "DiarrheaOfLurms" is in unit "Silly Hats Only" aligned to faction "Wolf" for a month
2/ Player "DiarrheaOfLurms" decides to quit "Silly Hats Only" but remains aligned to faction "Wolf" for a month
3/ Player "DiarrheaOfLurms" still joins unit "No Pants On" aligned to faction "Davion"
Will DiarrheaOfLurms even be able to do that right away? If so, what are the consequences?
If not, does he have to wait in order to do it, if so for how long? And will he lose a massive amount of Cbills in the process?

even trying to get out of a faction doesn't get you out of the faction. I tried it. Picked 7 day with marik and said I want to leave. 200,000 cbills later, I was still stuck with them for 2 days.

When the CW dropped last night our unit leader was not there to pick a faction so I dropped the unit and took a permanent kurita contract. When my unit leader finaly got the contract, I rejoined with no problem. So if you join a unit with the same faction that you already had, it has no problems.
That is all the info I can give.
That is to make it so that people cannot just drop a sinking ship on a whim. For the start of the CW beta it might be a bit harsh because people are making mistakes or do not know what they are doing. But for the long run, I think this is a good thing.
