So here we are, in this thread, and it's time for you all to post your first memory ever from the mechwarrior series.
I remember my first time playing it. It was so foreign to me, and I can't even remember how old I was at the time. Young, but not exactly sure. 9, 10 years old? Anyways, I chose to play as Clan Wolf, because my childish mind thought their symbol looked better (and I still do). I strapped up in a Fire Moth, ready to run the tutorial and get to the mech-on-mech combat. I thought I was an ace, until the training started. I walked forward, ready to stop at the nav point, yet unable to find the controls to stop. So I kept running past it, finally was able to stop, but then started going in reverse. Being young I couldn't ever get it exactly standing still, so I just kept running back and forth or running in a circle as I listened to the instructor. I clearly wasn't a trueborn for the cockpit like I believed. I remember running the worst obstacle course ever, getting frustrated with the firing mechanics, and eventually, shooting the instructor for fun because I kept forgetting my mission objectives. I still hold the fire moth dear to my heart, as I recall the voice of the instructor telling me he was going to teach me a lesson for shooting him. But of course, that never stopped me from reloading so I could shoot him in the next tutorial run.
Alright guys, let's hear 'em! Be it tabletop, the first mechwarrior game, MW2, 3, 4, so be it. All are welcome to share their stories.

We set up the old hex board and started playing, we only had room for half the hexboard on our small desk so we maneuvered just a couple of rounds and then I got to open with the first salvo... SRM6 launching, roll a 12... Battlemaster hit in the head... 9 points of armor, 3 internal... head destroyed. Roar and cheers erupt from my side of the desk and the teacher promptly shuts down all Battletech operations for the remainder of the year. It was the first and only match we got to play in study hall...

Dagger, I can only imagine how great and terrible it was that your first and only game ended with one salvo, haha.
Yeah kobold, I tried playing MW3 when I didn't have a joystick, and I quickly nope'd my way to the exit screen until I got one.

Waaait a minute... You weren't that punk in MW4 who'd always spawn right next to me and IMMEDIATELY jam a pair of Arrow IV's up my rear, are you!? WE ARE NOT FRIENDS
Incidentally, I loved playing MW3 via mouse... the moving reticle was awesome! I'd always have it set that it was dead-center in the screen though, so moving the mouse would actually move the pilot's head around. I found it pretty intuitive, personally... very flight-sim-like.

I remember being on duty at the firehouse...we had a three man engine company, battalion chief, and a two man medic squad. The medic dorm was on the other side of the engine room from the day room and our dorms. The engine crew would go over to the medic's and we'd play MW2 all night long between calls. That was late 90's. I hooked the guys up and taught them the game...I've always been a bad influence. BC never knew. Or never cared. It was fun times.

My favorite mech in the game was the Phoenix Hawk. I can't really even give a valid reason as to why... I just liked it. Looking back at gameplay videos of MW1 now... man. It brings back memories for sure, but its dated even WORSE then I remember it. Although it still strangely looks like fun. Afterwards my brother introduced me to "The Crescent Hawk's Inception" and the sequel "The Crescent Hawk's Revenge" of which I thoroughly enjoyed as well =D.

That aside, my first MW experience was the original MW for Nintendo. Since then I have owned/read/played every single BT universe product to date to the best of my knowledge. Every single novel, game, hell even the kinex toys.

Funny thing is, I remember thinking: This game looks soo awesome! Still does, for what they had to work with back then.
I would LOVE to see a modern day remake of MW2 using the new engines, computers and graphics cards of today. That would be trippy!

And then i had the Novells to Read. Three days later i was hooked up and had MW2 running. But i realy was infected by the Novells and the Story which was simply Awesome Stuff back in 1997.
In 1998 I had already my first Company, around 2000 i had two Battalions and 2002 my RKG was complete and i putt lot efford into getting the cool Makross Mechs, luckely for the Europeans Ralparsa didn't pay much attention to the Lawsuit so you got some of the Macross Machines till 2000 thank's to France. ( i'm german)
So for me i have lot of memories of Solaris an Field Battles in Battletech and only Mw2 Mercs realy touched my heart simply it's because the same as we did on the Table.
Mw3 got i when i was conscripted to the Armee, and i had Drivers Ready Duty that Weekend, which means lot of Waiting. I setup my System and played MW3 that weekend through. In empty Barracks. That is the most rememberworth for me in Mw3.
And when the Officer came and asked what i am doing i said: Working on my Drivers Skills. (got an APC, tracked Drivers License)
