Some guy seemed very angry at me for not switching over to Counter in CW tonight because I wasn't getting the interference and thus it didn't occur to me I had enough range to negate it.

And as soon as you have ECM and BAP only the counter from ECM works, so you are stuck with 180m.

AFAIK, that isn't the case.
BAP overrules ECM's counter range ONLY when ECM is in Counter mode. Of course, BAP can't counter ECM when ECM is in Disrupt mode.
This is more notable when running the MIst Lynx due to the hardwired BAP.
