Hmmm maybe after this challenge I have enough to get me a Vindicator again.
I would use 2 PPCs in the right arm on the AA, but I guess that makes it just too vulnerable for a disarm, eh?

From the 44 available chassis, I have 114 mechs where 51 of them are Clan mechs (3x17).
Most IS mechs from 50 to 90tons plus some lights and the L mechs.
Only sold two ravens, two dragons and a quickdraw in my whole time, but looking for a good dropdeck for CW made me think about the Vindicator again.

Been playing too much clan lately, but now I'm a proper freelance Steiner like Bish... oh wait. :)

and yeah, from the meta standpoint, the 2 PPCs/ 1 Cup Idea is almost sound, except you lose arms too easy. And thus all you ZOT ZOT.

My Vindi is the most fun chassis I play.

2x ERLL, 2x ML 1xMPL

There Is nothing more fun than jumping about like a mad man popping shots off. Sure It gets laughed at and targeted as easy prey by anyone who catches a glimpse of me, but honestly It tanks damage pretty well with quick twisting and jumping around and I semi-often get 500 damage and 2 - 3 kills. Just hang with the big boys or play sneaky buggerz.

Exactly. I see it that way too. There is no such thing as a "bad 'mech" only a "bad/inexperienced pilot."

it's amazing how the "pros" are so often wrong about "bad" mechs when those "bad" mechs are used properly and in the right hands.

Usually it equates to "I can't use it so it MUST be "bad" because my elite skillz should make all mechs uber awesome!"

Plus, the Vindicator has a head laser.
Gotta love head lasers!

Thanks Bishop for bringing this up, I had given up on the Vindicators but after reading this I got the 1R and 1AA and having a blast!

Starting to average closer to 400-500 dmg a game. Getting used to fast ppc's taking a bit. Loving the mobility!

Im a medium driver at heart, and this machine is reminding me why!

Going med lasers and ppc's.

In my gaming experience, you go two types of "Comp" players.

Those who game the mechanics, and get the win anyway possible (Back in my old Street Fighter II tourney days, those were usually the Chun Li and Vega players, doing the undefendable moves considered "cheap" by the playerbase)

And the REAL pros, who could take the "worst" character, and win with it. The guys who would take E Honda or Dhalsim and school the Cheeze-Li players.

So far, I haven't seen many of the second category in this game. Tons of the first. Not sure what there is to feel good about winning by exploiting broken mechanics, but whatever strokes their epeen, I suppose.

Maybe it's a generational thing. For most kids in my day, the harder it was to achieve, the more it was to be desired. But even then, then Meta Cheeze crowd was always on the periphery. Now it just seems to be the mainstream.

the ppc vindi is not bad. It's actually decent, however if you compare that to the 3x erppc Thunderbold 9s the vindicator simply gets outperformed. (based on actual testing)
But for fun-matches? sure, why not?

You know, vind may be crappy for pub games that center around brawling all day, but on the new large CW maps... Vindicator has its proper niche now.

Small profile ppc/llas sniper with low tonnage to help you squeeze in many potential mech drop decks. Long range is a huge asset in CW...

That being said? I also found great use out of my Atlas RS, orion M in snipe config, wolverine 6k with pulse sniping, and my hunchback 4g as a kill securing device in both offense and defense.

AMS seems to be more powerful too in CW since LRM's aren't in huge abundance, therefore you cancel most/all of the missiles launched.

Got them and they're quite challenging to use, but the reason its more difficult to use is all the bugs and glitches running around right now making my ppcs deal no damage to mechs ( I keep my distance to ensure my ppcs work), also the terrain has been a lot worse as well bugging out of place and enemies are able shoot me through huge cover???. but it's still a good mech and when the ppcs work they are damaging used one at a time while the other cools down, constant barrage of damage, even killed a fully armouered King Crab with constant fire :).
