I know i'm not a greatest player but I can hold my own here and there and I know CW is in Beta
I cant seem to win a game at all.
I wait from 10 to 60 min to get a game then I"m always attacking a defending clan team mostly 12 mans.
15 games and no win has to be a record or its just broken.
I'm glad I only took a 7 days contract as i will be swapping to a clan based faction so i can see what defense team is like.
Is there a system I can use to get a defending game ?
I do like the CW play though lots of fun even if you arnt wining unless its a 12 man roll.
Also having every mech in the game i am a little pissed off i can use half of them at any given time.
I think letting me make a second account to move all my clan mechs to would be the answer

Well, thats surprising to read. I have the feeling I mostly get to attack... Oh well, anecdotal evidence I guess.

Still no defense games yet played 2 more all attack or counter attack.
Taking along time to get a match as-well some times over 30 min.
Hope they fix balance soon, it seems like a great game mode

My experience has been about the same. I've played about 7-8 games now. 2 of them had no defenders, so they're a wash. The other 5-6 were all counter attacks. And all complete IS wipes.

I don't understand why I always get attack... when I'm defending a planet. Always.

And as for the state of the attackers, some balancing needs to be done. Anyone with any knowledge of military strategy knows that you need some kind of advantage over your enemy before you attack. Be that numbers, technology, or some other force multiplier. As it sits, we have even numbers, with the attacking team hitting both the defenders, turrets, and dropships taking pot shots. The defenders would have to not show up to not win.

I suggest the attacking forces numbers should be boosted by at least 20-30% for it to be even marginally competitive.

1 - Once an attacker has a certain number of wins they effectively occupy the planet. When you fight there afterwards, and until you push their wins down below the threshold it's considered a counter-attack.

2 - This is not real world warfare. The defensive advantage is minuscule by comparison. The problem that we're all seeing is that PUGs are non-committal and tend to look out for themselves to the detriment of the team. This is behavior learned in all the horrible deathmatch drops we've been doing and used in a new mode where it's even more likely to cause a loss than it was before.

We'll have to see if people learn and adapt. If not, that's our own fault. The real indicator of game balance is going to be if a full 12 man can pull a positive win ratio against a worse 12 man while attacking.

On point number 1, I think there must be something broken then. Seconds after cease fire tonight, I joined a queue to defend a Steiner world (can't remember the name). Attackers had 0 wins. We were immediately on counter attack. Again. Something's broken. I've now played 12+ games, all on counter attack.

I mostly disagree. While I can't argue that pugs vs premades are generally a pre drawn conclusion, even pugs vs pugs the defender will always have the advantage. The simple fact that the defender can take up defensive positions and simply wait for the enemy to enter their crosshairs gives them the advantage, real world warfare or not. Add to that the fact that the attackers have to deal with turrets and dropships, and I say the Invasion game mode is heavily tilted in the defender's favor. Too heavily.

pugs are doing their usualy of relying on LRM's which are horrific for this game mode.

The one hour waits between games only to get no enemy is odd too

If you click Defend a planet when there are no attackers then you become the (counter) Attacker. The MM will then find "defenders" from the actual attacking side.

No, this is not normal. You were just unlucky. I've played on both my Inner Sphere account and Clan account. I've had wins and defeats on both accounts, and I've been both the attacker and defender. I think I've won far more matches than I've lost, but that may be because of my choice of factions rather than my individual skills. Or it may be entirely accidental.

What is the best way to actually get to defend? I have queued for 'defense' five times so far, and each time wound up actually being the attacking side. And losing, usually badly.

Best way the 9th Sword has found is to immediately press defend when the popup shows up. That is supposed to indicate that an attack has been initiated and the MM is attempting to fill up a defending team.
