When a faction captures another's homeworld a new one is selected from the number of available planets to that faction.
Defenders of a homeworld get a 300 ton dropship to help them repel attackers.

If every planet of a faction is captured the players of that faction get a few options:
For Clans:
If captured by a clan, they can choose to switch to that clan faction, or Clan Loyalists
If captured by IS they can choose to join any other clan, join the Clan Loyalist faction, Or join that IS faction that captured them.

For IS
If captured by a IS they can choose to switch to that IS faction or switch to Mercs
If captured by a Clan they can choose to join any IS faction, join the mercs, or switch to the Clan that captured them.

(switching from IS to Clan and vise verse would mean they have to use IS/Clan mechs appropriately.)

Edit:
If a faction is beaten, and they go Clan loyalist or Merc, and capture planets, the unit may convert the planets under their jurisdiction and a few planets around it into the faction they wish.

So for example if a Merc unit owns 3 planets, for a cost of c-bills they may convert those planets and a few planets around them into a dead faction (so for example they could choose to go Steiner if they got wiped our by other factions), that unit getting to select the home world, and any IS players are given a chance to instantly join that faction. If a unit decides to convert to that revived faction, the planets they control would convert as well.

So If Merc Unit A is stationed in planet 1, 3, 5. decides to convert to a dead faction, they may pay a cost of c-bills to do it. then they pick the homeworld.
The if Unit B wants to join them, and owns planet 2, 6, 7 then those planets would convert to that faction as well.

This allows any faction a chance of revival.

And what happens when a faction gets wiped out? Telling people they can't play their faction because it got killed off won't work.

I think once the homeworld is captured. The faction members can vote on where the next capitol should be.

Home worlds have never been captured in This universe, Ans a few Merc companies are not going to beat the House's best troops. Sorry no.

Yes, you basically laid out a way for them to switch factions. However, you leave no way for them to continue playing the wiped out faction.

Since we're not doing seasons, that is unacceptable.

Not like it matters anyway, once they get down to their homeworld only, they are going to get stomped in every match. They can never fight their way back to a large faction. Especially really small groups like Smoke Jaguar and Liao.

What would happen?

SJ could win every match; and still lose their planet. Not enough players compared to the attackers.

You lose all your planets. You could join any other Clan faction, The faction that captured your last planet, OR go clan Loyalist. Which means you can attack and defend against the IS, but are unable to attack other clan territories as you don't have a planet.

Until there are two factions left? Doesn't seem appealing to me.

Part of me recognizes the issue with allowing a faction to "die," while another (sadistic) part of me would want to see what the map looks like with only 1-3 factions left on it.

There I edited my post with a system that would let any dead faction revive if players wished to do it.

Cause unless your faction is going to dedicate a Huge task force to take the Home World you don't have the staying power to take a capital.

Not to mention while you are off trying to take my Home world someone can be taking yours. and the merri go round will spin on.

Just play the Clan invasion and win the whole inner Sphere.

With the current system as soon as your faction is down to its homeworld because you are so little in population numbers, you pretty much are ******. As soon as you try to push out, you get stomped by defenses, and any planets you do take back will probably instantly come under siege.

This system would allow any faction a chance because as soon as they die, they can switch to merc or loyalist and capture planets themselves, and then convert back later giving plenty of people a chance to switch which could greatly help them with population.

As soon as you take the time to fight your way across hundreds of worlds each with its own militia you will be stretched so thin school girls with jump ropes will be able to beat your forces.

Not under the current system. Maybe whenever logistics are added.

So with my system, you give the players a chance to play more

But with the current system people will just break contract when they realize how ****** they are anyway and join another faction.
