So should I invest any more time into playing games I'm scripted to loose because I picked the wrong faction or didn't spend enough money? guess this game is for the die-hards after all.
BUT HEY, the IS develops their own omnimechs that rival the clans! isn't that what the resistance package is..? -oh wait. No. their just more fodder for the invasion. Almost fooled me there!
Sigh, all that waiting. And the matchmaker is more fun because it's a level playing field and makes for faster matches with more variety in strategy. So far, its about who's got more CLAN ER LARGE LASERS because the choke points make a brawler or scout mech at a serious disadvantage.
What CW badly needs:
- Matches shouldn't wait for both teams to be at even strength because I'm sorry this is war! We don't attack by appointment, and if your not ready that's your problem!
- Some matches should cap teams at less than 12 to add variety.
- dropships should never fire a killing shot! seriously, they come out of nowhere!
- defending team should have hangars instead of dropships anyway!
- maps should have fog or be at nighttime (that's warfare 101)
- The assault and skirmish modes can also be used in CW.
- Matches where you don't use all four mechs in your dropship.
- rescue (say, a diplomat): reach a downed craft before enemy does. ideal for a big map like alpine, HPG or tourmaline. Can either favor speed or ability to intercept enemy lance.
- Objective to kill/protect a particular mech pilot. (cannon hero/leader or dev, doesn't matter)
- Scout/Recon: you don't know if/how many enemies arrive.
- Matches with a repair bay
