I have a Stalker 3-H with 4 LRM 10's 3 Med Lasers and a Std 305 engine
Question: Would it be worth while to up grade to Artemis? Smaller engine...3 LRM's?
Is Artemis worth it?

First: Read the Quirks pls. Stalker H= LRM 20, so put in 2 lrm20 not 4 lrm 10. (mousever it in mechlab, so u can read the quirks)
Second: LRM and StreakSRM= artemis must have!
And dont forget the BAP (Beagle Active Probe)

Artemis+tag and U must have line of sight to be effective or no artemis+narc 1-1,5 ton ammo, just narc who U can and spray behind cover.

I wouldnt personaly use LRM 20s they just waste ammo .15s are good 10s are also good but deal less overall dmg than 15s but kill potential is same like with 15s.

Artemis is handy; but the 3H can handle going without.
Engine is good. Some speed is nice in stalkers.
As for your LRMs... 2LRM20s might be slightly more effective in that you don't waste as many missiles in a second burst. It has two 20 tube and two 5 tube LRM hard points.

I wouldn't use it with LRM20, simply because even with quirks, the LRM20 is a really bad weapon.

Personally I would use the 3H for either ERLL or PPCs, because of the energy quirks. It has the best generic energy quirks of all the Stalkers, so if you don't want LL or LPL on your Stalker, the 3H is the best one. Of course, it has pretty good missile cooldowns too, so LRMs do make sense as backup weapons to have something to do on the way to the battle, but personally I would go with some smaller mech if I made a missile boat.
Speed is everything for LRM boats, both to get into position and to get out of tricky situations, and the slow stalker is hardly good at either of those tasks. But those high energy points, oh how lovely they are.

In CW, I had a game were I did over 2000 dmg with my 4N, 4 large lasers of hurt going continuously. If I had used LRMs, I would have been happy to score over 500 before going out of ammo.

I feel the best builds on the 3H use 2 Artemis LRM 20s, 3MLs and a TAG as well as an engine, that allows you to move significantly faster than 50kph (with speed buff). What you do with your remaining tonnage is really a matter of taste. Either 2 SSRMs or even ASRMs or just additional LRM launchers works. It solely depends on how youre planning to use the mech.

I suggest to use pure LRM+MLs. Medium lasers to add damage in face to face engagements at suitable range or for self defense. The LRM5s are really good for those unsure shots. You only waste 10 ammo if you miss and the reload is so fast, that you can afford to use every small opportunity. The LRM20s are for those sure shots, where you wanna strike hard. Artemis is a must on LRM launchers. You may wanna read about artemis in the wiki or other sources that explain it, if you not yet fully understand it.

Thanks. Line of sight doesn't really work for me. I try to stay hidden behind hills etc. 2 reasons I went with lrm 10's 1. quicker reload times, 2. more ammo. I'll have to look into NARC's.

Then you're looking for the wrong mech. You want a Trebuchet or Catapult, if you wanna stay behind hills. In a Stalker you make up a big portion of your teams tonnage. Because armor is directly correlated to tonnage you're also making up a big pool of your teams hitpoints. If you hide and let your weak team take the hits for you (although you could take a good beating in a Stalker), then you make a nice contribution for a loss right there. In a Stalker you want face time and dish out the punishment.
