Really how much RAM is this game going to need to play. I can already tell that my graphics chip might need to be upgraded.

Nothing out there "needs" more than 8. 16 buys you longevity. 32 Buys nothing unless you use your machine for design.

even then 32 gb is way overkill
RAM isnt even the problem anymore it is the harddrive or the internet connection

I have 6gb and have never exceeded 5gb usage during a game.

if you're building a comp to last a long time, 8 would be safe. i don't foresee games hitting that limit in the next 4 years or so. hell, they programmed an entire continent into a game like skyrim, and that doesn't require more than 4.

Ram is so cheap right now, if your building or upgradeing an your OS will let I would go with atleast 8 gigs. Any more is overkill unless you do other stuff that would use it, any less could hurt performance

All depends on what System you're running.
For me it's a not-so-new Core 2 Quad 9550 on a Gigabyte P35-DS4.
This machine runs very well, with my mini-OC the CPU goes with 3,4 GHZ.
But the Mainboard only supports 4GM Ram max.
So, even with WIN 7 (Prof) I can not have more than my 4GB RAM.
But that's enough though, and MWO will be more limited by Network Speed, a bad Graphics Chip or a slow CPU.
What do you think you may need more than 4GB RAM for?
As long as you won't use severeal applications the same time, or use software with a big hunger for RAM (..maybe Photoshop) the most of your 8GB will be - empty. Unused resource.
