Mechwarriors, once you get in on defense, you want to stop a Zerg rush or those Clanner scum from stomping the ever-living daylights out of you?

Defend in depth.

Step 1. Find out if you are defending. Check.

Step 2. Prior to drop, attempt to determine which Lance you are in.

Step 3. Determine which map you are on.
a. If the hot map, follow Step 4.
b. If the cold map, follow Step 5.

Step 4. Hot map.
1 player from each Lance separate and go to an overwatch position on each gate.
Forward observers, when enemy is sighted, type it out with your gate and enemy's grid location (on your team channel, not public).
One whole Lance of 4-5 Mechs remain in position to maneuver on gate when enemy is sighted by overwatch.
Remaining Mechs remain at cannon in case a secondary or tertiary maneuver is made with a larger or faster force to Zerg the generator.
Once gates are down, collapse inwards and hold crossfire, maximizing 2 or 3 Mechs to a single attacking Mech at a time. Attempt to leg if possible. If lag delays or aim is an issue, core them.
Rinse and repeat until all attackers are finished off.
(Edit: Special note - place either heavily-armed jump-capable light or medium [Wolverine] on platform behind generator to stop lights from getting to that location and escaping you).

Step 5. Cold map.
Place 2 Lances forward in line formation across the tarmac, on overwatch of both gates (vicinity of grids F5 and E6). Do not bother with forward observers... the gates open in the same direction.
If Zerg rush is sighted, collapse on generator, gun them down from head on.
One Lance remains at generator to impede Zerg rush even further.
If attackers attempt concerted push with heavy or assault Mechs, have reserve Lance push to assist whichever Flank is failing, preferably from a flanking position.
*Note - Cold map has two different terrain layouts with each gate entry. One leads to a tall hill that is excellent defilade for assault Mechs since it is protected by several buildings. Do not allow attackers to dig into this position, or they will be a tick that you will have a difficult time dislodging. It is located near grid G6.
Engage from hard cover, use LRMs and ECM on Counter to stop Clan Mechs from escaping locks with their own ECM. Also shoot down any UAV drone you see pop up in flight. Murder those little eyeballs.
Do not let them onto the tarmac, so they pick you off as you drop. If they get that far, you are in serious trouble. Remember to double, triple, or quadruple tag team each one until it is dead and wasted in a fireball.

That is all for now, Mechwarriors.
