While this topic's title may not make sense at first glance, I got to thinking last night while at work, reading one of the Battletech novels, of a way to increase interest in attacking/defending strategically viable areas.
Battletech has a rich history, this year marks 30 years of Battletech goodness. With the introduction of Community Warfare to MWO, this brings MWO to the forefront as we hit Battletech's 30th anniversary.
One of the major things in Battletech lore, are the house rulers and the Khan's of the clans. Their orders from their seats of power can vastly change the outcome of who owns what lines.
Currently, we have nothing like that in MWO... so, why not add incentives based on Game Master type decisions.
IE a Gamemaster looks at the board, and gives incentives issued by the house ruler, IE say, House Kurita units to attack into Davion space, or to halt the Smoke Jaguar advance into combine terrority.
perhaps do this once or twice a week, as the campaign map changes, giving various factions decisions... IE "House Davion units are encouraged to capture 3 planets in DC space for a bonus of X amount of C-bills within Y amount of time."
This will help imersion by feeling like the ruler of a given house, or a warlord, is issuing "Bounty's" on specific targets, and that there's a greater power out there dirrecting the overall flow of combat.
It will help focus units, and overall bring a better feel to CW.
What do you, the community, think?

PGI Would have to higher some people to be GMs. They have game developers and Media and graphic artists. Do those jobs have what it takes to GM a game?

Technically the game devs very well might.
I'm not disputing the fact that they may have to pick up some new talent for the role. But I do think it's something that could bring some more depth to CW.

I think thats what PGI are allready trying to do which is why we can only attack defend certain planets at certains times, and give all factions options to attack defend, lio marik davion.
however in doing this it looks like the orders of a crazed despot that even {Godwin's Law} would have thought of as insane
