Well, putting my two cents in as a Kurita pug grunt. Bangor was getting hammered, from what battles I saw. Waves of 12 man Smoke jaguars against a faction mishmash of pugs. If there's an organized Kurita group, I sure didn't see it there tonight. Then again, i did call it quits after my 3rd straight match of being 5 minute rushed so...
Don't pay any attention to my posts though. seriously. I'm 2 days into the game and ignorant of any politics or actual meta-play issues. I'm just saying what i saw tonight.
No a pug's eye view is a great thing to have, and I think hits on the same note a lot of the 3 IS factions facing clanners are saying. Since anyone from the IS can queue to fight clans and vice versa, planets between the two are the place to be if you just want to get into a match and don't really care who it is/what effect it'll have.
You also have to consider that clan mechs tend to be more homogenous than IS mechs are. They can't configure engines like IS mechs can so everything clans run short of the heaviest dire whales tends to range roughly 70-100kph. That's a big difference compared to IS mechs that can range between 50-150+kph. The result tends to be that when it comes to pug groupings, the IS has a much harder time staying together as a group than a clan one does
When you have those effects intersecting, I think you get what we see now. There are a lot of organized units on both ends fighting, but what they do is inconsequential for CW compared to the 4-5+ pug teams matching up for every premade. Because of the design of clan/is mechs for homogenization/customization to a degree they'll likely tend to win (not to mention map design on boreal playing heavily to clan strengths in ranged weaponry) more often and take planets consistently.
All that being said Consumingclam, there are a lot of great kurita units recruiting if you don't want to solo drop. Go get teamspeak and put house-kurita.enjinvoice.com in the address bar. There's a lot of units there and if you hop into a channel and introduce yourself I'm sure they'd be glad to have another player with them.
