Well, putting my two cents in as a Kurita pug grunt. Bangor was getting hammered, from what battles I saw. Waves of 12 man Smoke jaguars against a faction mishmash of pugs. If there's an organized Kurita group, I sure didn't see it there tonight. Then again, i did call it quits after my 3rd straight match of being 5 minute rushed so...

Don't pay any attention to my posts though. seriously. I'm 2 days into the game and ignorant of any politics or actual meta-play issues. I'm just saying what i saw tonight.

We have been battling Bangor tonight and Brocchi the previous night, more often than not its a ragtag group we very rarely come across a organized 12 man of Kuritans. We (JGx) have yet to take a loss.

Okay, this is the first time I have posted ever on these forums. I usually prefer to read the opinions of other people, as some of them usually reflect my own and I feel no need to add my voice when it has already been usually more eloquently voiced by someone else.

Therefore I am not a MWO forum expert, as such this post may be in the wrong place, or it may be a duplicate Meme. I am not claiming to be smart, I just thought for the first time that this idea may be useful. It may anger some people, but that is not my intent.

In relation to ghost drops; if a planet is currently undefended perhaps a useful mechanic would be to borrow from Eve Online.

If a planet continues to be undefended, only a set number of 'slots' may be taken by the invaders before the planet goes into a 'reinforced mode'. This essentially means that no more territory may be taken on that planet until after the ceasefire of the current day. I am not expert enough to say how many slots may be taken prior to reinforce mode; perhaps half of what is required to take possession of that planet? Conversely, once a planet is in reinforced mode - no counter attacks can be made on currently occupied territory until the end of ceasefire and 'reinforced mode'.

This may be useful for such houses with strategic issues such as what the Draconis Combine is currently experiencing. If only a few units are currently fighting along 5 fronts without the numbers to bolster defence, then perhaps this sort of mechanic may assist in fine tuning defence coordination quiaff?

Naturally, after the 'grace' reinforce period is over (after ceasefire), then that planet is taken out of reinforced mode and cannot be placed back into it, even if continued attacks remain undefended.

You were lucky when ComStar turned off the HPGs last time

You're thinking of the Capellan Confederation. The blackout was during the 4th succession war.

If you're thinking of the War of 3039, All Comstar did was give us Kintaros, King Crabs, and Highlanders... and that was before the war. They gave them to us for recognizing the Free Rasalhague Republic as a free state.

I have my fingers crossed for some Hatamotos, though. I'd prefer Maulers, but there weren't enough variants to justify making them in this game.

I too would love the Hatamoto-Chi and Hatamoto-Hi. Fantastic 'mechs.

As mercs we'll go where the money is. Most definitely not easy mode.

If you went 'where the money is', you would have went Liao. ;)

Of course it does. That's why PGI's idea of balancing population by increasing rewards won't work. Not a single 'big name' unit that I know of went over to Liao, despite the rewards.

One big problem people are having though is the inherent nature of short-sighted views in games like this. People think that because it's a certain way now it'll always be that way.

There are a lot of great merc units in Davion and Steiner. We value and appreciate them. It's not unreasonable to say though that they are mercs and not house units for a reason. At some point they'll change. Then what?

The idea that Davion is going to be perpetually 'on top' is an inherently unrealistic one. Units, even house units, may decide to switch to clans. Arguments may cause people to switch alliances. Maxing out Loyalty Point rewards or the desire to switch to another house to earn that first fast 1-10 levels. Variety.

There's a lot of reasons for people to change alliances and they will play out over time. Marik and Kurita are, ironically, in a good place for that - both have a reputation for being solid places to play with good folks and they have a lot of action. The prospect of a not too distant future involving Kurita and Marik having the biggest armies in the field isn't possible but probable, statistically. Switching to Clans requires a huge financial investment and there are some Clan groups that a lot of people simply don't want to play alongside. Marik has earned a lot of respect from a lot of folks; while losing worlds to the FedCom they did not do so by being incompetent but simply out-numbered and out-gunned. You'd probably find more Davion mercs willing to flip to Marik than Liao.

Davions time will come. We're likely going to be hard pressed; hence it's good to have a lot of experience and work hard to get our pugs and units up to full fighting form. Our advantage is not permanent.

The best thing PGI can do is actually roll out MC/Mech Bay and other rewards for Loyalty Points. Those are, ironically, designed to compel people to switch alliances. I think that's a negative concept and needs to change but for the time being it would make a difference.

The rewards were put in place because of population discrepancies that are in game right now. That sometime down the road the system might start doing what they designed it for doesn't help now.

Yeah, honestly it should be priority #1 for PGI to try and find some method - any method of correcting both population imbalance and pug experience regardless of faction, those two things are the biggest long-term killers of CW's interest for the average player and could strangle the whole thing in its cradle if they aren't addressed.

While PGI is averse to showing real numbers, they shouldn't be so iffy about showing percentages.

I'd just like to see the Percentage of players in each faction, then sub-percentages of those numbers showing the Win/loss ratio, the number of players that are joining as part of a group, and the number of players joining solo. The "Average group size" might also be a good indicator, as well.

I'm getting to thinking a lot of my new unit mates are right. Dracs aren't too bad as players, but we have too few players, and too few of said players act as part of a group.

I'm thinking that for puggers, there should be a "Militia Cue", where they can be assigned to fill out any group as necessary. I speak for myself, but when I was pugging, I was more interested in getting a fast drop then where I was assigned. Something of this sort could be useful.

CW is a mixed bag right now. Each time I play the experience is different, sometimes awful sometimes great. Personally I think it will work out in the end.

(PS Do not worry ISers the Clans always need bondsmen/women.)

Laugh and enjoy life as everyday is a gift.

Quite a few people I know just are not bothering with Cw because of the population imbalance and how easy it is for the larger pop factions to lolcap planets via more attackers than defenders. They can't see a point in trying even if you win 100%^ you still auto lose.

Liao sends congratulations to the Dragon on their successful counter attack on Misery. A win for the Combine is a win for the Confederation. We hope to continue working together and bring glory to both our houses at the expense of the Davion scum.
