So how did this invasion go in the battletech lore? Right now it doesn't feel like a clan invasion. I spend the majority of my time fighting off bordering IS factions than I do clans.

Quick google search yielded this link:

Here's a graphic of the invasion waves with dates:

Well, if Adam Steiner is to be believed...

"This is the Inner Sphere - thousands of planets colonized by humankind. Once it was united under the Star League, but for the last three hundred years, it has been consumed by savage wars. Until a new enemy appeared - mysterious invaders known as "The Clans". Powerful and ruthless, they struck like lightning, attacking every sector at once! But they made one big mistake - they attacked my home planet! Now, in the spirit of the Star League, ancient enemies have reunited! And we're gonna take back our galaxy!" - Adam Steiner.

He had a flare for the dramatic.

Fighting for Somerset took up most of my day on Saturday. It was just relentless. We would get a win on attack, then get locked in defending counter attacks for hours only to see the attack tokens drop. We'd be up 1 then down 2, then up 3 and down 1. It really felt like there were endless waves of defenders there to stop us and for a while it didn't seem like we were going to be able to take it.

We might not have 10 v 12 but it was definitely noticeable that as a Clan, we were vastly outnumbered by the IS side in raw numbers based on how hard it was to defend all the counter attacks.

We were attacking Ikar all day Sunday and never got anywhere. Every time we felt we were getting ahead we would get knocked back. It was rediculously fun. We spent Saturday trying to take back Steiner territory from the kuritans.

It depends on if your House borders the Clans or not....the vast majority of my CW drops are against Clan. I remember only having 1 or 2 House vs. House....

Comstar is what stopped the clans invasion the first time. Which is ironic because PGI is comstar. so...IS is ******.

The clans rolled the Inner Sphere hard for the first couple of waves. Mostly because they were hitting periphery garrisons that generally only had to deal with poorly equipped and trained pirates, they weren't prepared or equipped to deal with something like the technologically advanced clan juggernaut. Once front line Inner Sphere units started getting moved up the clans still won more often than not, but it was harder going and their logistics started getting over-taxed. The clans were eventually halted at Tukayyid by a proxy battle for Terra(Earth).

Eventually the IS picks up on the clans stupid wrestling-esque keyfabe and honor rituals and uses it to kick their ass all the way to hell. The goal of the clans is actually Terra (Earth) which the clans eventually and very stupidly tell ComStar.

Well, if you like playing Clan Wolf or Clan Jade Falcon and want to win (take control of Terra and reform the Star League in their image), play MechWarrior 2. It is a bit of alternate reality for you.

When Mechwarrior 2 is your first exposure to the universe (like it was for me), you get all confused and messed up about what the real story line is lol.

Fun game though.

Mechwarrior 2 is set during the Refusal War, the war between Clan Jade Falcon and Clan Wolf.

Its set waaaaaayyyyy after Tukayid

I see.

Its weird though because the game at the end implies one side wins Terra (the ending scene shows your clan standing on the moon over looking Terra), but the Battle Tech story never ends that way as far as I know. Then again, my knowledge on such things isn't as extensive as other peoples.
