After playing a few rounds with the new maps I came up with an idea for a CW map...of sorts.

At the north side of the map is a large volcanic caldera with a broken rim to the south west (the entry point), with five targets inside the caldera to be destroyed. No gates. The map is on par with Alpine Peaks in size, with the attacking drop points spread far across the southern end of the map.

The sides of the volcano limit the approaches, with caves hidden by the terrain for defenders, and ridges below for the attackers, also hidden by the terrain.

At the base of the volcano are the stretched out ruins of a town, decimated by the volcano giving cover for the attackers but still out of weapons fire range from the volcano. Each drop port is separated by distance except at the volcano. These drop zones are to the east, west, and center on the southern grid.

This map could also be filtered into regular play for the standard game modes.

I like it. I would advise that it should be a dormant volcano. I would say there should be ash clouds for sure and maybe even a BIT of cooling lava left over. This would simulate that the decimation occurred recently, but not so recently that it is still erupting. I would say not have it be QUITE as hot as terra therma, but still pretty hot. Hotter as you approach the caldera. No gates makes sense given the large travel time and the recent eruption.. clearing most equipment from the mountain surface. Maybe have mobile field bases as the destructible objectives.. or some sort of temporary structures.. given the recent eruption, the objectives could not be permanent fixtures.

Awesome idea though!

Perhaps the volcano as dormant as it might be has been tapped for geo-thermo power.
