I've been around the forums for awhile and have seen many-a-post featuring 3d printed models of Mechs based on the MWO mech models, and with the gorgeous MWO version of the KGC, I would be highly interested in getting a model.

I am curious about how to purchase/commission and get myself a high quality MWO KGC model without stepping on some big legal toes

many thanks for your time and feedback

...just looking at that 6" posable atlas and thinking...... possibilities...

There's a thread somewhere in the fanmade section on how to extract the models. Could you not take those and straight print them; granted they wouldn't have articulation?

They can't
The don't have the license to do that. That's why they never have.

I don't think PGI has the legal rights to sell figures.

That said, you could buy a 3D printer for around $1000 and print them yourself.

didn't Warcraft offer a service to make and sell models of one's character? could PGI not do that? it would seem to be more of a similar service andless of a "selling table-top figures"

Another company has the rights to sell the actual figurines and such (Is it still Ral Partha?)

If you don't want to 3D print something yourself, I suppose you could look for a 3rd party 3D printing service and give them the models. Just request they be plain white then paint them yourself.

Perhaps they could license the art of the MWO models to whoever owns the rights to sell figures?

Send the designs to whoever does have minute miniature rights, I think we can all agree some of the older mechs need a less lead pewter/plastic face lift.

Dat phone...
