Arrggg and all that.

So I was wondering if Pirates would ever enter the equation here?
In terms of having perhaps random raids have to be dealt with, or perhaps even GOING pirate at some point in the future of this game? ;)

Probabaly if they ever incorporate the Periphery States. That could very well be "pirate factions".

"Liked" for the idea. If they have a Minnesota Tribe I will join! (http://www.sarna.net...Minnesota_Tribe)

The pirate option should be available just if nothing else to keep the houses honest but then again depends on the map they give us is it just going to be the lines established and nothing else or will there be a periphery? I hope there will be because if you can scout around you might just find a world or cluster you can colonize but that might be a couple years down the road. Due to the fact that lance on lance seems to be the norm at this time.

Maybe pirates will just be hired thugs each house uses to aggravate another house into starting a conflict.Maybe they could even be a random encountered AI or better if you are a pirate you join random other pirates and get launched into random battles and are just there to cause mayhem and you get points not really from winning but from how much carnage you cause.

Good idea, but pi-rats usually don't coordinate with houses.

This could work if pledging a house gets certain post-carnage abilities (bonus to c-bills, repairs, etc.) I think choosing a pirate company should give you a bonus to salvage and/or c-bills, maybe at the expense of repairs, access to chassis, etc.)

I like the idea of being outcast to the periphery and fighting for survival. The cut throat atmosphere... the scarce parts... the juicy passing freighters... that's a life I could live with! I've got it all planned out, Tortuga Dominion and a full company of Brigands!! I could die happy if I could do that. Also, raiding the Fed Suns (Commonwealth at this point) for mechs and such would be a thrill!

Of course, the problem with this is when the Clans show up. Oberon, and I think Redjack, get slaughtered when Wolf shows up and gives a big 'HI!' to the Inner Sphere. If pirates were incorperated, its likely they'd be NPCs. The Periphery States could only be incorperated if Aerotech rules were included - as I beleive the fluff for the Taurans says they're primarily an aerospace military (I know one of them is, I want to say 'east' of Davion and Kurita).
