...though I do think its mostly the maps and the design of them thats at fault...
We have had this discussion a few times in AU, and I'm wondering what exactly it is you would change about map design? What makes them bad, in your estimation? What's missing, what needs to be removed or modified, etc.? I keep hearing the maps are bad, but perhaps I'm just not seeing it.

Maps in this game are a large arena; they are not meant to be open-ground, and the fact that the two Invasion maps are as open as they should be for the FIRST type of game necessary for accomplishment of a Planetary Assault is just about right, as far as I'm concerned. They are not perfect, but I don't see anything wrong with the maps, as they are.

that's really not a logical conclusion, is it ?

They tell people they're holding back to make *sure* the patch is O.K. before just releasing it (instead of letting players deal with the problems), so therefore the quality assurance is making you feel concerned?

What???

Just be thankful they're doing things the right way, there's other things to life (shocking I know) than daily MWO...take a walk for some fresh air, hang out with a girlfriend, watch a movie, work some overtime, think of something while you wait.

Yeah if the patch isn't ready it's not ready.

However, 3 hour wait time in the middle of the day is kind of a bummer.

Do people realise that as a solo player you still have a chance of long queue times? so you drop in on a 9 man planet and it goes to 10 ... but 2 more guys just don't turn up. Or you join a queue but a 12 man get puts in front of you. And what if someone works out that you can manipulate it so a 12 man always encounters a PUG?

I do wonder about this , you have had 2 years to think about this and should have worked out the details and just be implementing them, but it seems more like you are feeling your way through the dark rather than actually executing a well thought out plan.

PGI question: When the patch comes; are you canceling the current attack phase? or rolling it back? or ending it? or resetting the whole map? I for one would like to know. Currently we have a LOT of people waiting for the patch to login and play CW. I'd really hate to lose a planet I spent 3 days fighting for because I was unable to defend it due to a patch.

That is why it is called Beta :)

We should be happy that PGI is listening a lot more to the players and have bought in a lot of changes to make playing MWO CW potentially easier.

Cheers!

I would rather they catch potentially game breaking bugs before releasing the patch instead of just trying to rush it out the doors. Good on you PGI.

Looking forward to the 64bit client btw.

Base rush tactics ... two main changes. ... three new small generators ...
- This is probably a very good change ... it will likely make it impossible for us to beat our ~90 second unopposed attack win time.
... more cover and protected pathways after breaching the gates.
- Also probably a very good change.

TERRITORY MATCH STATUS BAR ... see each of the 11 slots change depending on whether a territory was lost or held. This should better reflect the dynamic and multi-battle status of a planet ... anything over 50% means it will flip at the end of the combat window.
- The visual representation should be neat, and the "anything over 50%" opens the door for future changes to the value of unopposed victories.

LOBBY ACTIVITY ... Pending player activity is now displayed ...
... next step in the New Year will be to display the actual composition of the groups which are queued for a match. This will allow players to see on which planets they’re most likely to enter a match.
PLANET FINDER & PLAYER ACTIVITY ... now shows the total number of players fighting on a given planet ...
- These three changes should help us find matches more quickly. Thanks!

64 BIT CLIENT
- I will be very interested to see how this affects my rig's performance.

Loyalty points required per achievement have been increased – please note, players will not lose any achievement rank they have already unlocked
- Interesting.

Replaced attacker DropShip 7 medium lasers to ERLLs. Attacker dropships now have 12 ERLL's.
Removed defense DropShip ERLLs. Defense dropships now have just 7 medium lasers.

- I like that you're trying to prevent the defending team from spawn-camping the attacking team, but I have to agree with another comment on the issue ... if the attacking team is in this situation, they've already lost.
- I also like that you're helping balance the automatic defenses, but it will make one of our favored tactics even more viable.

Conquest HUD progress bar is no longer smaller than it should be
- OBTW - the cooldown bar for consumables is also too small.

Fixed Drop Deck resets
- Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU!

Hanging cockpit items will now display again, ‘Mech cockpits will no longer disappear
- Cool.

Rarely, when playing with a high latency, names may not show up correctly on the end of round screen
- This does not happen "rarely" for me ... it happens almost every game (it's annoying, but doesn't affect gameplay, so I hadn't reported it).

If PGI is worried about dropping a patch that is buggy ... you might want to stop complaining and let em fix the patch.

Yet they're running out of "today" hours for most of the world. Good thing they live on the West Coast of North America.
