What do you do with your previous builds?...because married with children, working lower-middle class and in need of a replacement of a burned out game rig is looking for bargains.

i normally do something with them; i took some parts from my last build and built a backup pc... meaning it actually does backups to my tape drive.

But i do have some parts left over from my last build
2x 680's with waterblocks (dont know what i did with the fans)
1x gigabyte g1 sniper;
about 16GB of ddr3 laying around.

if you want them PM me a price; since your in LA, your not far away for shipping.

Yeah. I don't know what happened, I had the gains I posted, then all of a sudden I'm getting heavily throttled. :I

As the same time, I'm thinking THAT is my Graphics card. I have no clue what's wrong with it, but it loses drivers and FILLS its memory more andmore the longer the computer stays running, until it crashes looking at images in Opera.

Interesting.

Specs?

You say loses drivers.... expand on this!

Maybe we can help you out here

Heres something to think about some processors are made for 64-bit computers so by trying to make them emulate 32-bit on a 64-bit system they lose performance compared to 32-bit processors on 32-bit systems. So you actually gain FPS if you have a 64-bit system with 64-bit processors.

Do you have to be running in DX11 to gain any benefit from using 64 bit client?

I've tried using it under Dx9, and all I get is stuttering..
FPS monitor says its right around 90 fps, but lots and lots of frame stuttering, feels more like 30 fps.
Under 32bit, smooth as butter in Dx9 averaging between 70-120 fps.

Could it also be my AMD r9-280x not liking MWO?

Win7 Home 64bit
Intel i-5 4670K 3.4 ghz
16 gigs ddr3
Gigabyte R9-280x

(edit)
Switched over to Dx11, and yeah, you have to be running DX11 if you're going to run the 64bit client.
FPS averaging as good as, or slightly better than I was getting with Dx9.

It's more that a 32 bit software won't fully utilize 64 bit hardware

I have an i7 4770k, 16 GB or RAM, and an R290 on Win 8.1 Pro 64 bit. So far I have seen no difference in performance or stability vs the 32 bit client. I am sure there are advantages. I just don't think they are readily apparent.

You cant see them because you have such a good computer already but basically some more of the 16 gbs of ram could be used under 64-bit.

It's also more than just memory usage. 64-bit applications employ a calling convention which uses the 64-bit registers which are wider and more numerous. This means you will get a performance boost on function calls and on code which makes better use of registers. I'm guessing the cry-engine falls into that category.

It's more than that... as I've said above.

I'm a C++ developer whose main focus for the past 2 years has been on porting and optimizing an application to 64-bit. You should be able to realize a ~5% performance boost on a reasonable system by using a 64-bit application on a 64-bit OS.

I doubt many people will be able to notice a 5% increase.
