I do not have that problem I'm running windows 8.1 and toggle during the ready screen all the time. Are you in windowed mode or full screen?

Possible fix: Use "Full Window" instead of "Full Screen".
I used to alt-tab all the time and frequently ran into freezes / other bugs until I changed that setting.

Yeah.. that Silver Fox such a potty mouth...
Seriously though it is generally a bad idea to ALT+TAB during screen resolution changes... Nope not a Win8 thing like some suggest... This problem existed all the way from Close Beta... Used to be worst and a sure fire way to crash your client...
A more annoying bug is the 'Windows Arrow On Screen' Bug...who has the same cause.. ALT+TAB at the wrong time.
I use ALT+Enter to full screen in and out myself, with less issues. However ALT+Enter for whatever reason is NOT available with DX11 !! This is the secondary reason why I still use DX9.

This is a load of complete nonsense. There's absolutely nothing wrong with Windows 8 and its performance should be the same or better running this, or any other game.
