So I noticed that the loyalty points have been just building as you go up in rank, but for some reason they reset between rank 8 and 9?

Ideas?

The amount you've accumulated had not changed and they did not take levels away from you, but they did increase the amt needed for each level.

The patch yesterday increased the amount of XP required to unlock each level. If you had already unlocked level 9, the rewards you received for it are still in your account, but you won't get 'em again when you get back up there.

You didn't actually have 79k LP, but you did complete Rank 8 under the old system (You can even see in the text description, it says you only needed 60k LP to complete). When they increased the Rank requirements, you were allowed to keep your old rank, even though you are short the necessary LP to complete it, and have to make up the difference on your current rank.

I would guess that they realized how much free s*** they were giving away with people making progress in CW and freaked.

They probably upp'd it simply to limit the amount they gave out.

or they underestimated just how popular CW was going to be, saaw their record breaking numbers on the servers, saw that people were burning through those achievements at a much higher rate than anticipated and adjusted accordingly.

As most devs in an MMO style game do...
