I got Windows 7 64-bit. 8gb of ram. My understanding is framerates are more dependent on cpu/vidcard.

While I had MWO running in a match/offline , I pulled up the task manager and the meter for memory (in use) never goes above 2.5 gb.

Am I wrong to expect to fly up to around 7gb? Its like I always have around 5-4gb of memory free.

Don't know about others, but I noticed my cooling fans running less with the new 64x. I also changed to dx11, which apparently did not agree with my system in a live match. Need to still check how dx9 works with the new 64x system though.

Don't know if that helps you any.

Well there are a couple of issues with your post/issue.

1: It will only use the RAM it requires, you actually don't want it using all of it.
2: If you want to force RAM use and leave the hard drive alone, disable the swap file completely (it changes nothing for performance).
3: 64 bit allows more RAM use, but doesn't dictate it must be so.

Thank you.

So I got ram, 8.00 GB (7.48 GB usable). And when I run MWO it only uses 2.5 gb that would be normal?

My frame rates in testing grounds could be 35ish to 40.

In game it will always go around single digits between 12-6 frames per sec.

I kinda half expected when its working hard like that so look at my resource and see 5 to 6 gb of ram dedicated to it....... but it just sits there at around 2.5 gb.

Thanks again.

The game only needs so much memory, after that point its all about how fast your RAM is.

Really though, you hit a limit because of CPU/GPU LONG before RAM is an issue in most systems. Your frame rate tells me you are far from hitting that RAM bottleneck, things are working as intended in your OS.

Don't worry, pew pew, have fun :P

CPU and video card make huge difference.

Need to post info on your motherboard, CPU frequency, and video card specs.

The lower end Nvidia cards (and probably AMD cards as well)do not do so well on this game.

Since you have 8 gigs of RAM the lack of FPS I am betting will be from an outdated video card. Nvidia does have program that will tell you what video settings you should be running MWO with your video card.
That program is found here :

When I use the AMD version of it AMD has still not added MWO recommended specs for all their variant cards out there.

When I upgraded my video card this month with Black Friday sales noticed a remarkable increase in FPS. That sort of took nose dive though since I have been using the 64 bit version of MWO. Hoping as they work further on the 64 bit version the get more bugs out of it.

Heres my dxdiag. I guess might tell you what I got. What gives me maybe some false confidence is there has been times I played with a good 60 frame rate with only dips into the high twenties. That was prob a good two years ago back when they released the trebuchet mech. Ever since then I just keep hoping maybe the next patch will fix it. Or maybe I have to screw around with a user.cfg file.

Spoiler

Try an OSD (On Screen Display). Good thing for gaming, can monitor whatever you like while in games.

They are free.
