We all see that the forums are approaching mental meltdown because of the new cockpit glass.

So let the poll decide.

Some of the choices and your describtion are confusing and/or redundant.

For example: Always ON – But add a transparency slider in the options

I assume that one will be able to freely set the slider from 0-100% transparency, which would contradict the "always on" describtion!?

I'm okay with this kind of stuff.
Limited vision such as cockpit stuff, snowblind/mist/sandstorn, and glass flares make game more difficult and it's a good thing.

It only lacks cracks and damage when cockpit is damaged.

AND YES.
Making it tooggleable would make it unfair.
If you turn off the mist you'll get agvantage over a player who plays with mist.
Same with these flares.

Everyone should take a walk through the Tunnel on Forest Colony. You can't see a damned thing. I found that the darker the exterior, the brighter and more pronounced the scratches were.

I personally like it and hope for even more "sight disadvanteges" (like rain) in the future.

That being said, if people get headaches from it, it has to change, no matter how much I personally like it.
I hope though (and voted) that a decrease of the effect gets the job done.

This is what I see. I can still see. What are you not seeing? why the effect is so strong in a tunnel is a different question.

It's an awesome effect; the cockpit finally feels like the canopy is covered with something to protect the pilot from the outside atmosphere.

It has zero effect on gameplay (I barely notice it unless I'm looking around my cockpit or I'm turning).

I dont see why ppl complain about this "glass-effect".. I dont feel that it has impaired my vision at all, I only see it as something positive. If you experience that you are having trouble seeing things in the game, maybe its not the "glass-effect" thats the problem but your vision.

Glass works well enough in that tunnel for me, which is more than can be said about night vision. In fact, I noticed visibility in the tunnel is mainly determined by my shadow settings.
Just add a switch and everyone will be happy either way. Can't have too many on/off switches for gimicky effects as far as I'm concerned.

Your poll options seem a little biased...

Still not sure if it is affecting my fps or not...wish I had a button to turn it on/off with so I could tell. Otherwise seems okay.

Disturbing the players vision just sucks and often there are glitches / settings, that let players have an advantage.
I think EVERY visual aspect that works against the player, needs to be removed from the game, including glass, night and fog.
Those things were funny when you played against npc in missions, but in a competetive game like this, it is pretty bad when people don't see the same...
For instance, i lowered some of my graphics to not see trees that are about 200m away from me... makes it VERY easy to hide and shoot hiding enemies :D
It's pretty unfair that i am able to do that, and just like that, i think it's unfair to let people win because they sit in the darker room, and can see me 1000m away, while i stare at a rock 50m away and try to figure out if it's an enemy or an ally...

Which is pretty much the opposite of how you would see scratches/smudges on something like... a car windshield. When it is bright it should be harder to see through the blemishes, and in the dark not so much. Am I going crazy?

i'd love some colored tints though.

if the tint reflected the actual color of the lasers fired from your mech , that'd be sweet

I think I may have figured it out. Facing the same way you are in the tunnel is not a big problem, I have a similar looking screen. But if you start at the village and attempt to walk down the ramp in the tunnel I get a very different view. It seems to be dependent on the Map's light source, yet it is applying that refraction wven when you can't see the light.

(can't embed the image) This is looking down towards the big rock at the waterfall. As you can see, I can't see ****! Had a fight in her last night and had no choice but to use heat vision. this gave a severe advantage to one player. This alone is why I don't like the glass.

I have a few other examples.

P.S. I don't have the best PC but can easily run Medium settings at 45+ fps. IMHO video settings are not an excuse for this.

On / Off Toggle. It hasn't hampered me but it is a little weird.

i turned all around in the tunnel. that was just 1 screenshot. all mine look like the tunnel shot mostly, not worse certainly.

your problem is something else imho, some graphic setting issue or some such. that is pretty bad stuff, no wonder you cant see anything.

I still don't understand why cockpit glass was even put in the game. if it added damage effects like cracks that would be one thing but its just dirt on the window. It isn't that bad but im still straining my eyes more and sometimes glare makes it hard to see at all
