Because if it is, it's at the expense of PGI.

The "game clock" was reset from 3050 to 3049 during the release of the clans this year. So it's 3050 all over again. The advertising department was being cute.

The joke is they started a timeline running way back when MWO was first announced. They made those items two years ago when it was supposedly 3050 the "first" time. Well then PGI went through their dark days when nothing got delivered, and lore nuts everywhere were sure CW and the clans were coming in August of 3050 because that happened in Lore. So then earlier this year PGI "reset" the clock and we're now coming up to 3050 again.

They are making fun of their own ability to keep a timeline, and having to reset it.

It's fine if they want to abandon the timeline thing but they need to make a concrete statement about it.

PGI is working hard to make the game better and atone for past mistakes while simultaneously being able to laugh at themselves.

The problem is what exactly?

They did, a few times. It's a joke. Enjoy it for what it is, and move on.

Man, if they seriously abandoned the timeline thing for good, maybe we could get some IS Omnis up in here.
