Many Juicy Details. Here are a few...
- Narrator voice explaining the environment and it's effects
- Commando COM 3-A footage (0:12 - 0:23) Love that stompy-stopmy sound
- Dragon DRG 5-N footage (0:24 - 0:33) Oddly, the dragon pilot seems to have modified his mech, removing his medium laser on a map designed to help with heat. Maybe he didn't know...
- Commando COM 1-D (0:34 - 0:43) engaging a Hunchback HBK-4J and a Jenner JR7-F
- Some good vision mode toggling (light, dark, infrared) at and after 0:37
- Commando 1-D jumping and firing weapons (0:51 - 0:54)
- Jenner JR7-F using its jump jets right in the observing pilot's face. (1:23) I wish it had been in thermal imaging mode
- Commando COM 3-A using it's flamer on a Dragon DRG 1-C in thermal imaging mode, (1:27 - 1:29)
- Narrator discusses the effect of walking on ice. Heavier mechs will have less traction and more difficulty (1:28 - 1:42)
- Narrator mentions that it's a closed Beta.
perhaps a small poke at the leak
Edit - The printed interview reveals at least three telling points
- The size of these maps, created with obvious loving care, are going to be amazing. "But I think, also, the maps that we’ve announced so far, that people have seen, whether it’s Forest Colony or Frozen City, are a little bit small. Frozen City especially, I would call that a small map. I would call Forest Colony a little bit bigger than that, it’s bordering on a medium-sized map. The next map we’ll announce, I won’t give it a name just yet, but it’s probably at least three or four times bigger than anything people have seen to date. So much bigger. Functions like zoom and sniping with long-range weapons and scouts are going to play an even bigger role yet"
- All mechs will have at least a basic zoom function and thermal imaging "Certain things like basic zoom and thermal and whatnot will be given to every mech, and then I think you can think of it like extra layers on top of that. Those might come with modules."
- Russ needs to get some sleep or improve his ability to say "Heck, no! you cannot take my picture!" if circumstances warrant it. Not just the pick though. He included "smaller-caliber autocannons" in a list of "up-close-and-personal brawling types of weapons." It's also possible that the PCGamer guys transcribed or edited it incorrectly. Mistakes happen, but hopefully fewer with some rest
