I just started playing MWO again for CW, haven't played since open beta.

My problem is that since then they have added some sounds to the cockpit that are driving me insane. Here is a sample:

http://vocaroo.com/i/s1zdDqbSn4HD

All of those rings and beeps that repeat every 10 seconds have made it where I can't even play the game with sound anymore. They literally give me a headache. It's physically painful for me to hear them repeat over and over and over and over again in my headphones.

PLEASE, is there ANY WAY to disable those sounds?!

go into your options menus, you can adjust sounds there.

WRONG. All that adjusts is ALL EFFECTS. I want ONLY the cockpit sounds muted.

Please, someone has to have a fix for this? Is there a file I can delete? Something to put in a config file?

It's making playing with sound impossible for me and that makes me not want to play at all.

I didn't even notice those. On the upside you have great hearing.

Well I think it's more the fact that I play with high quality headphones and no music. Even at the lowest volume I can still hear them clearly. I think on speakers it's not as noticeable, but on full dynamic studio headphones it's like being tortured in some MKULTRA experiment.

Mech Deafening Online?

it might be possible to find and remove the individual sound files.

I can't believe how busy it is on the audio side of things when I watch videos. I have betty and all that crap turned off.

If you mean the radar pings these are absolutely necessary for knowing how to play correctly and you've got to learn to live with that.

Otherwise;

Music Volume 0
Dialogue Volume 0
Uncheck frontend sounds

Did you listen to the recording? Obviously you did not.

I'm not talking about targeting sounds. I'm talking about the completely useless and annoying "ambient" cockpit sounds that literally have no purpose.

How much of a techy are you? You can unpack the Sounds.pak removed the sounds you hate with "sound free" files then repack it. Make sure to save this file as you might have to replace it every time they patch the game.

Yes, this is what I assumed, but I don't know anything about decompressing .pak files and I'm not even sure if I were to delete the right file if the game would verify and be able to play.

But I'm willing to do ANYTHING at this point because I just spend $80 on mechs and I don't even want to play now because of how insanely annoying those sounds are.

Big stompy robots full of electronics make noise.

Really? You think if mechs were real they would play a 10 second loop of random beeps and rings?

ProTip: mechs aren't real. This is only a game.

And in this game big stompy robots have fusion reactors that make noise.

I suppose you could try tweaking your user.cfg, but I don't know how. Try asking in hardware and accessories? If all else fails, you could just put some music on. I hear Taylor Swift has recently released some hot singles :)

you can unpack it with WinRAR .

Then I looks like you have FSB files for every mech.
mech_atlas/mech.atlas.fsb

AT this point im not 100% sure. Looks like there are a few programs that can open this. They're basically another packed file. (fmod program does it)

After you open then you will have to remove the sounds and put in a no sound file. Pack it back up
Then pack sound.pak back up.

i really like the ambient sounds of the differnt mechs. i think the mwo team deserves kudos for taking the effort necessary to create those. but i do agree there should be a way to turn them off.

for a "now", solution only thing i can think of is to find the frequency of those sounds and, use your sound cards equalizer to cut the offending frequencies.

or disable the sound all together and make stompy robot sounds with your mouth.

I'd send a support ticket in......tell them I got like some slight autism-like issue with the beepy sounds. No body is perfect, My brain is wired differently....I can smell your FEAR! Maybe not the last part.

You know around the 5th time I played your sound.......I stood up on my chair and yelled "PREPARE TO FAST FOWARD!" it just reminds me of spaceballs. Its got like that trekkie feel to it.

You could try some yoga I suppose.

Or cheaper headphones.
