Report from the Front: Behind Enemy Lines
By: Chekotai Allard (CI Field Reporter)
With Comstar Irregular operations deep behind enemy lines over the New Year's holiday, comms from my trusted source on the front lines were tied up in the declassification process. Now that CI is back in Inner Sphere space, I am proud to present the latest report provided by Mechwarrior Arvid Morgensen who is embedded directly on the front lines with CI.

"Today was a huge day for the Comstar Irregular Mercenary Corps as they announced their intentions for the future of the Mercenary command. Grand things are in store for these intrepid warriors, but most of those revelations, I cannot speak on. The contract that I signed with the unit in order to report and be embedded within their forces prevents me from being able to fully explain all that I now know, but I have been allowed to mention that great things are in store for this unit if all contracts are successfully completed.
As many within the Inner Sphere may have already heard through various rumors, the Comstar Irregulars, upon completing their contract terms with the Free Rasalhague Republic, have signed a new contract with the Ghost Bear Clan for a period of time. This will first be seen as a devastating blow to the FRR forces who had called them brethren these past few weeks, but fear not FRR forces! Rumor has it that the fine print on the new contract with Clan Ghost Bear is that the Comstar Irregulars will not be fighting against the FRR troops. Their contract states that their focus will be toward the Kurita and possibly fights within the Clan Invasion corridor itself.
Why would the Comstar Irregulars turn against the Inner Sphere many will ask? I have been searching for this answer myself, and come to many different conclusions, but there are two statements made by Comstar Leadership personnel that stand out as most likely in this instance.
First was a statement by Dracol, a senior leader within the CI Mercenary Command, “We may no longer be affiliated directly with our place of origin – Comstar – but we still hold true to their principles and the defense of the HPG networks. Our idea is what better way to protect the network than to have our troops stationed in these zones that have been invaded by the Clans?” This definitely would explain how a unit with its foundations in the Inner Sphere would now be fighting against the troops within it.
Another source within the Comstar Irregulars upper echelon stated, “While we may have been Comstar, our differences and mercenary ways lend us to find the best options to promote the Comstar way without restriction for whom we work. We are, after-all, mercenaries.” Again, as my previous article stated, these poor souls within the Inner Sphere are in a great deal of trouble, but hope may yet be on the horizon. The vast and wondrous plan that the Comstar Irregulars are beginning to play out might very well prove to be the savior for all in this war. Their road is a long one, but one that very well could decide the fate of the Inner Sphere."
