As the title says, ghost capping is a thing that'll happen at one point or another because the population of the game can't support 24/7 battles at every possible target for every possible faction. That'll lead to ghost drops, where one team shows up and rolls over an empty base.

The rewards for that are fine, but they also count as a free victory for their faction's conquest of another planet. We've already seen a natural evolution of the implications of that, where numbers have become what matters in the CW map at the expense of nearly anything else. If ghost capping's effect on the map is removed, it means that every planet that flips happened because that faction won the fights rather than zerged the planet.

"But won't that lead to factions just not defending world's so they can hold onto them?" I think if there's any conclusion people can take from the first few days of CW, it's that nobody has control over their faction. Despite multiple groups coordinating ceasefires, every front continues to be active at some point, whether its steiner/davion, frr/kurita, marik/liao, or any of the numerous clans.

There's enough people that eventually a planet will be contested, and no amount of coordination from the leaders of different units in a faction can change that. What do you all think?

I don't think "They'll never do it" is a good design philosophy.
