No idea why, searched for the detected packages but could only find a few. Deleted but did not help.

Nothing on that helped, installed/repaired all programs and restarted. DirectX will not install due to me having a more current version, C++ and .Net are current and neither needed repair. I had this game installed previously and I uninstalled it the same way I uninstall every game, I have done a full C Drive search for any and all files/folders related to this game. But when I try and install it says it can not because a previous version is currently installed. This is the most trouble a game has ever given me. And it is very discouraging to have to jump through so many hops just to reinstall.

I deleted this key and its subset and I was then allowed to install once again. Odd that it wasn't picked up by the MS Fixit or CCleaner but all's well that ends well.

Sounds like the game has become corrupt it means you will need to delete it manually which can be dangerous if you dont know what you are doing take computer to qualified IT tech he will possible need go into registry remove bits and pieces of the game

or second option would be to do a complete fresh install Windows onto your computer, whens last time you defragged your Hard disk its also possible registry may be in bit of mess.

I believe his issue is the certificate error but unfortunately most do not look at the entire error message. As noted, installing the necessary MS programs (86x versions, even if running 64x system) is one workaround. The directx error comes and goes on the installers, tis why I suggest using the redistribution package instead of the dxsetup one.

Another work around would be to set system clock back to May 5 or earlier until install/patching has been completed.

Another has to do with the certificate itself and should work but only the original poster has confirmed it working.

This is a fix to the issue with a " 0x800b0101 - A required certificate is not within its validity period when verifying against the current system clock or timestamp in the signed file."

The actual fix is as follows:

Right click on the install program icon. Select PROPERTIES, DIGITAL SIGNATURES, DETAILS, VIEW CERTIFICATE, and now select INSTALL CERTIFICATE.

But for the OP, the missing Microsoft programs were the C++ 86x version, .NET 4 (earlier .Net3/3.5 installed) and Directx 9c (W7/8/vistta comes with a base DX9 but does not include all necessary modules needed by many DX9c games).

I am also getting the fatal error message I have downloaded all the software and even gone into my registry to delete any copie of MWO any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: I was getting this error on uninstall...I found the solution. I have all the latest versions of C++ .Net DirectX etc. installed. I tried the M$ Fix-it tool etc.
If that sounds familiar please keep reading.

To resolve this, if the M$ Fix-it tool doesn't work, you need to look for this line in you log file:
C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\{1B2EC53E-FB7C-40E7-A4E8-504171771FC0}v1.4.3.0\MechWarrior Online.msi
The KEY part is the ID between the { }. In this example it is {1B2EC53E-FB7C-40E7-A4E8-504171771FC0}

1. Copy the application ID from the log file (noted above)including the curly braces.
2. Open Regedit
3. press F3 or click Edit -> Find
4. Paste the Application ID into the field, press OK
5. Delete the Keys it finds
6. keep searching until you find no more entries.

You can search for Piranha as well and delete all keys related.
EDIT: NOTE: Just searching and deleting reg keys with "Piranha" in them will not help. That was my first attempt to resolve this. This key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Piranha Games" is not the key that will fix this issue. CClean didn't help either but it never hurts to run it anyway.
You NEED to delete all referenced to the Application ID, this is what the Windows Installer Services Looks for. I would recommend cleaning all references to the App ID and Piranha in your Registry to make sure it is clean before re-installing though.

Delete the Game folder in your install location if they still exist, NOTE: you may want to Save your Profile and your user.cfg if you have made any customization.

Try to re-install

This only took me the better part of a day to resolve...I hope is save someone else some time...
Now I hope re-installing resolves my connection issues!
