Have any of the MW games honestly used scouts for their intended role of find and report enemy combatants, positions, routes etc, in multiplayer (I have not played MWLL)? I know we've used the snot out of them to harass and run down wounded mechs and what not. I also remember a recon mission in a single player game but true recon I don't recall seeing. If so please remind me as to which one.

Yeah, MWLL is the only place I've seen Scouts be any use once the big 'Mechs started rolling in. Especially Scouts with a C3 computer, NARC, TAG, etc. Otherwise, the multiplayer pretty much became laser-boating, jump-sniping deathmatches, right?

Actually just finished up two rounds of MW:LL in a 14 v 14 match. I chose a Raven with BAP, ECM and C3 just for scouting. I was active while the lance I was in, a mixed Light / Medium basket, stayed passive yet still got my feed and with TS3 were able to hear my call-outs of information I got yet might not of been fed. We were able to flank well at first but over extended which lead to our demise. What can ya do?

My last remembrances of valiant warriors was driving with the RTG and we jumped worlds and fought to the death for C-Bills and glory.

To answer your question directly. Without the Scouts who went forward without thought of death, were the reason we won far more then we lost. The Scout pilot has a valor unknown to the Heavies and Assaults as they lead the way and the big guys do clean up.

Thanks be the Gods. I made Medium class rank before death found my Scout Mech!

Yes! Thanks, I've been looking forwards to support and scout roles being functional this tells me it definitely works. I'm looking more and more eagerly to this.

Scouts will be very important as info gatherers and harassers. I feel that a good scout will be able to call in indirect LRM fire while a great scout will be able to do that AND kill their scouts first.

Would like it if Scouts were able to give better info feeds to lance mates/team mates.

For instance, while a Heavy might be able to give you an Indirect Fire feed also, the scout would let you get the lock faster and more accurate through the scout pilot's training tree. Scouts could get more accurate air strikes (it seems like they'll gonna be in) and perhaps be harder to get locks on.

Arrow IV missiles are available at the time the game is starting at, so TAG for them coudl be an option. Off board artillery (LongTom's) would also be fun if it is only available after certain conditions are met then has a "recharge" time.

So say any mech can call in artillery, but it's accuracy will suffer because heavier mech pilots don't have access to the Forward Observer training. This is perfectly reasonable and is an actual thing that affects real life artillery.

In addition, Scout mechs might get better UAVs, be harder to find on radar, etc.

MW3-PM, had to scout a pirate base and destroy 2 comm arrays using light-medium mechs there was a also mission or 2 on MW4 Mercs, required the use of scout mechs with BAP ECM that was for stealing information on Faffnir and Templar Specs.
