What I did not see in this patch was knockdown -- Who cares about ECM or hitboxes anymore. All that has to be done to deal with the light mechs is to reintroduce knockdown and the lights will be, ahem, knocked down and killed. I unloaded 4 AC20 rounds into the backside of a jenner from about 30 meters away -- it took very little damage AND it ran away. IF there was knock down, that mech would have fallen right over into the dirt where we could have killed it. LRM30/40/60/80 would knock a Light over regardless of how far away the shooting mech was.

Hit reg is horrid right now. Knockdowns or not, they still wouldn't register.

If hit reg worked then lights wouldn't stand a chance with a knockdown btw.

You say Lights are difficult to kill with hard hitting ballistics?

I do miss dragon bowling :) Playing lights was fine even with knockdown. You just had to play a little smarter.

Knockdowns, while amusing the first few times, would commit the deadly sin of Crowd Control effects, something PGI seems allergic to. Understandably so, to a degree. I'm not sure how many of you played WoW, but when I played, the Rogue was the dominant PVP class, because he could literally Stunlock you to Death. Even if you blew a CD or two to escape, they'd just disappear, and come back before your CDs had reset, and repeat the process. It is something that caused Knockdowns to be removed in the first place (I believe it was an incident involving Paul and some Goons, but don't quote me on that). With sufficient numbers, an enemy could effectively lock someone into the Knockdown animation, by just running into them repeatedly, one after the other.

However, this doesn't mean they shouldn't re-implement collision damage. As it stands at the moment, colliding with another object has NO effect whatsoever, other than some paint removal, and a point of armor. A Locust runs into a Direwhale, or a building for that matter (terrible pilot), minimal effect. Now imagine a Truck and Trailer Unit colliding with a 757 at 170kph. Would make quite a mess, right? Or that same 18 wheeler plowing into a building.

Now to be fair, we can't realistically compare the two, because firstly, it's a fictional game, and secondly, mechs are made out of some sort of super special armor plating. But the point is still the same. Collisions need to have Impact. It would also encourage players, not just lights, to be more wary of their surroundings. Assaults would be just as vulnerable. Ever seen two large shipping vessels collide. Slow, but unstoppable.

Also, my Brawler Atlas would have a use for it's Gorilla Arms, but I'm not biased....
