THEY ANNOUNCED IT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY. 2018 release date, Unreal 4. Holy ****. Singleplayer. BRB going to my room for a bit, they hyped me too much.

Probably going to get off this hype train by tomorrow morning, but the fact that this exists is making me very happy because theoretically PGI won't screw it up, just based on the alpha footage they gave us. Theoretically.

Edit: Yep, it's the next day, and now that I can think straight, I can properly say a couple things. First of all, am I still excited AF? Oh yes! Will I pre-order it/kickstarter back it? Hell no! I don't trust PGI to actually have it working and with all the features they're going to brag to us about until it's sitting right in front of me. I should have taken that stance with MW:O back when we were promised the pillars, but I didn't. I'm not making that mistake again, no matter how shiny it is.

Is the single-player going to be made by PGI? If so, then meh.

They might have help from HBS and Catalyst. It's very possible.

I do hope that is the case. Cause PGI doesn't know jack about campaign AI.

Well according to Russ and the Official site for MW5, the game is being developed by a separate and dedicated team within PGI.
I very much hope they formed the right team for the job, and that HBS and Catalyst are also closely tied into the development of the game.

To me, the little preview Russ showed looks pretty promising, but time will tell how this game turns out.

Legitimately I think I need to take a break from the forums for a bit so I don't say things I might regret because of the hype polluting how I'm thinking. Woah. I was really expecting to have a completely different emotion after that presentation.

If it's good, I would most likely buy it and move away from MWO.

Honestly, that might be what PGI wants. If they can manage to make Mercs good enough that the entirety of the lorehounds and major fans jump onto it, they can retire MW:O and be free. I'm 100% fine with that plan, if that's what they're going for, just because it gets me a singleplayer Mechwarrior game again.

That was a cinematic, plain and simple.

All it is, is hype. Until the game is actually released I won't believe it.

Mixed feelings.

At first i thought "OMG MECHBAY MODULES FK YES"

Doors opens "wow looks nice is this... OMG A NEW ENGINE FK YES"

then "OH **** PVE MISSION TOO FK YES"... "gah that probably means no mechbay modules"

it's MW5 Mercs "gah that means its not integrated into mwo with daylies etc" and likely " no new engine for a while either..."

Well, MW5 was certainly asked and needed by a large chunk of the BT fans so thats good. I certainly will enjoy it once.

The Skill Tree revamp is BADASS! cant wait.

PGI can easily add micro (ahem lol) transactions on this new game's multiplayer part and make it MWO 2.0. So people won't be missing it much.

Welp, against my better judgement, even though PGI is making this , at some point I said I'd kickstart or preorder a MW5 game if there ever was one... guess I'll live up to it now....

Given the context of the last four years or so of MWO development, that last line of the trailer sounds especially cynical.

That said, for some of us founders, MW5 was the endgame we were seeking, when funding MWO. Maybe PGI will do right by us after all? I don't know, but I'll certainly stick around to see how this all plays out.

One of the best things I heard which goes really in the favor of making MM5 or MW5 a reality is that they are NOT using Cryengine.

^ This is a healthy attitude, Russ said it was live because it's different then the youtube video, we didn't see the hands move so mby he just did 2 movies but I kinda think it is real , it's not as impressive as SC might be when/if it comes out , so it looks more real.
