If you're not ok with me taking 4 assaults (trust me you shouldn't I'm kinda good in them) then that should be /end thread
I'll accept 4 lights if I can have 4 assaults.

But lights .... the go fast , have small hit boxes , decent armour with the previous two factors considered and you can fit some nice weapons on some of them. But here lies the problem .. they are supposed to be scouts yet people can use them like an assault.
They are hard to hit with most weapons and those that are easiest to hit them with (not streaks) take time to bring them down.It could almost be said that lights are more survivable than assaults .. which is laughable but true in some ways. And the fact that people have to use precious tonnage and slots to fit a mech to counter a light is equally bad as that is then poorer at taking on the heavier classes.
As for the usual we have to use them because clans are OP nonsense , it is getting a bit tiring especially with all the quirks the IS enjoy now. Fact is some IS mechs can outrange and outdamage the clan mechs.
That issue goes back to day one though. "How to make Lights useful, when Scouting has little or no use, as seen by the players." Make them fast and tough. The "lots of damage" angle could have been curtailed but it is far to late for that.
Who knew 2 years ago that 6+ SPL's would become a Death sentence setup to any/many Heavy and Assault Mechs while engaged with other Mechs in battle?

Instead of posting assumptions
Good or bad there's a lot of interaction on twitter with russ. Some of you could definitely benefit from the info and would understand why some of us just shake our heads at some of the stuff posted by a select few on these forums
I will never have a twitter account! Millions of people spitting into the wind, most of them thinking someone actually reads their idiot tweets....LOL

I'll accept 4 assaults when the average player has a reason to run lights or when lights are played in the same numbers as assaults are.
I rarely run lights but, IMO, there shouldn't be a lower tonnage limit in CW. at least not now. when/if they add some sort of role warfare mechanic I may change my mind about it.

I think what's tactically wrong with this statement is the following:
If you force a light focused pilot to bring a heavy to fill out the drop deck (35+35+30+60), you've got an inexperienced pilot in 60 tons of mech. If you force an assault focused pilot to take a light, you have an inexperienced pilot in a 35 ton mech. Which is going to be more detrimental to the team? A 60 ton throw-away, or a 35 ton throw-away?

Plenty of current CW drop decks have a throw-away Mech in them now, without the Pilot not being adept in any of them. They are just filler because you can't just take a Fave 3.

"For most skilled pilots 4 FireStarter H's will out DPS 4 Vindicators...."
Think about that for just a minute.
So PGI has made it impossible to be the Killer Bees almost all lights...
