Title is the question.

Does the large laser quirks also apply to ER large lasers?

Should i be using Large lasers? Or ER Large lasers on my STK 4N (Stalker)

I've had good games with the 4N so far with ERs but i can only use 4 of um. I can use 6 Large lasers without the ERs though.

It is wording specific, so if it says large laser it means large laser etc.

If it's specific to All large-class lasers, it'll call itself "Large class laser" or "Large type laser."

However such does not exist. It's either a specific type of weapon or a general 'laser' quirk.

Large Laser specific quirks and modules will not work with Extended Range Large Lasers or Large Pulse Lasers,

If the quirk or module specifies a weapon name it only works with that exact weapon name

Just a short/sweet example of the AWS-9M. I chose it as a good example of weapon specific and weapon type quirks.

AWS-9M
ER PPC RANGE: 12.50 % - This is specific to ER PPC. Meaning it does not apply to PPC.
ENERGY RANGE: 12.50 % - This is for all Energy weapons, ERPPC, PPC, MPL, ERLL, etc...
ER PPC VELOCITY: 25.00 %
ER PPC HEAT GENERATION: -12.50 %
ENERGY HEAT GENERATION: -12.50 %
ENERGY COOLDOWN: 15.00 % - Applies to all weapons in the Energy group.
LASER DURATION: -15.00 %

For clarification the bonus range for ERPPC is 25%, but it is 12.5% for all other energy weapons.

Which kinda annoys me. I'd love to have the 20% cooldown on the HBK-4H apply to both the AC10 and LBX. I like the LBX more than the AC10, but the cooldown time is nuts on the AC10 once you stick modules on.

Didn't this change at some point this year to where ER Large Lasers do get the benefits of Large Laser quirks?

It would be tres cool if the LL quirks applied to ERLL.

I'm beginning to warm to Large Lasers. It's like a bad first date with a guy you otherwise like. When he calls again...you're like, meh...but he sure can kiss and he made you laugh, so you give him another shot....

Actually, I'm glad that got clarified. I've been kinda wondering if that wasn't constructive. As in, if there's a general energy weapon buff AND a specific energy weapon buff, is the specific one constructive atop the general one? Seems the answer would be YES. Pretty interesting to know, going forward.

If in doubt you may view a mech in the mechlab in game and mouse over the weapons: it will show the working quirks for that mech at the bottom of the weapon summary.

Even mechs in the store can be viewed with the mechlab, there's a button atop of the the detal-window in the bottom right corner of your screen.

That said, mechs which have PPCS quirks will also apply to the ER PPC, as "PPC" is a class similar to "Laser". It does not work in the opposite direction however.

Energy that applies to all lasers and ER/PPC. On a mech with PPC quirks (just tested it myself /smacks self) select PPC then ERPPC, the weapon info will show what quirks work with the weapon. ERPPC quirk though will show itself only when the ERPPC weapon is selected but that quirk will not show up if PPC weapon is selected.

And yes, until this moment I had thought the same that PPC was for PPC only, ERPPC for ERPPC only. I was not aware that PPC quirk was generic, at least in the display information (likely a few others too). Guess tis time to go test it
