The reality is that everyone attacked everyone when CW started up. Davion won. Simple answer, it's more complex than that but the criteria played out that we won. If FWL had won I'm comfortable saying that you'd be happy with that and want to keep your winnings.
We all went into CW guns blazing, we are playing here as a contest between factions. I'm not going to apologize for winning or feel bad about my factions victories. I'm hesitant to look at just... giving all that back because, well, we had an advantage so the win wasn't fair? So does a 12man vs a pug drop or the guy who drops with ERPPCs on Boreal. That's literally the nature of the game.
Fighting for Davion is challenging - we've got a lot of fronts. Ask a lot of your faction-mates how well our units do, in general we do really well. We spent some time face-rolling on the Jade Falcon border the other night, should probably do that more often.
The cold hard reality though is that Davion and Marik fought and fought hard. I have a ton of respect for Marik units at this point, earned by bitter defeat and razor-thin victories and the best play I've had in this game time and again. We won though. When you win, you deserve the fruits of your labor, I don't feel bad for wanting the fruits of mine. I'd love a Davion/Marik treaty at this point, the details of which are not mine to decide, nor even the discussion to have on it at any official or meaningful capacity aside from saying 'Davion/Marik border conflict is probably the most unit-intensive in the Inner Sphere right now; a huge drain on resources probably best used elsewhere'.
When we all start focusing north and facerolling Clanners are you going to want to give the planets back when we manage to fill the queue 2x as deep as they do? When we are winning because we're dropping literally 15 sets of organized Davion/Marik/Steiner 12mans on TS into the queue almost non-stop, destroying the Clanner pug drops in 5 minutes or less and setting the Clanner units back on their haunches, rolling back a world a day on every front? Will it be fair? Do we apologize periodically and give their worlds back?
I have great respect for FWL players at this point but I don't feel bad about saying that in the FedCom/FWL December War, we won and we took more than we lost. Hard fought and a huge concentration and coordination of effort but we fought and we won. Isn't that, literally, the reason we're playing CW and not just pug/group drops?

Facerolling any faction because the beta is exploitable does not interest me. I would rather lose planets in a fair fight than gain them continually in an unfair one. Fair fights are just generally more interesting.
A pug population in itself is not an advantage because lots of units vs lots of pugs means the units get the advantage even if there are more pugs.
However if there are both more pugs and more units on one side, the units will be going up against more pugs, and the pugs will be going up against more empty bases. It may not happen a lot on average, but if there's a horde of pugs and units dropping @ primetime it will be enough to provide a decisive advantage every night.
But again, we'd need a balanced scenario to really test this objectively. Also we will get more insight when people switch to larger/smaller factions.

Yeah, but you have to join a Faction for CW, so we took a vote and it came out Steiner.
So...we raid everything on Steiner borders. If we change Factions when our contract is up, then we will be raiding all around the borders of our new home.

We're not the 228th. We're The Brethren Pirate Merc Corps and fight for pure fun.
We march to the beat of our own drum and are a rouge Unit, just like the name "Pirate" implies.

I suppose history is also full of examples of privateers, who were probably more numerous than the actual pirates ever were...

Oops - I mean:

Yo-ho!
Does this mean we'll actually get to fight people at some point??? I've only played CW 5 times, and no one's been on Dubhe the two times I've been able to drop there.

So there are those of us who will honour agreements, those who will do as they wish. Those who play the game for victory, those who play for there individual stats.
So everyone can have there say but do not get to worked up about it (yes hard for us to do sometimes). Until PGI adds in a Lone Wolf faction that can "raid" from the periphery those with a pirate play style will do as they wish.
This is Community Warfare "BETA" have fun with it, role play if its a problem to you but lets all try to have fun with it.
And yes I was very ...annoyed ... to see the Christmas cease fire broken and a Marik planet, Duhbe, falling to Steiner Christmas eve but I am over it. (Remember folks the planets have time stamps on when they were taken, and which unit was most active in a successful attack/defense) I am sure the majority of Steiner players and units fully honoured the CF and thought Marik broke the CF taking Cavanaugh II last night.
If anyone can figure out a better way of having his game function for all involved, at all times please let PGI know if not ... Time to move on.

It's only a game y'all. There are no Factional Peace Treaties; only Treaties between Units. Since nobody offered us a Treaty, we decided to do some pillagin'!

Now...I myself was busy with the Holiday and only got to run one CW drop on Dubhe (unopposed). However, I stand by my Unit's right to attack whoever it wants, whenever it wants.

Some of y'all really need to lighten up! You'll have more fun if you do!

Welp, if you don't have 12, we can make sure you sit in an empty queue for a very long time.

Looks as though I owe you an apology..........unfortunately game mechanics do not provide an avenue to punish those lacking honor so, speaking for myself only, I'll not defend against these incursions until such time as you regain what you lost.........anything beyond that is to be contested though.

Oh, we have 12.

Well then, I suggest you test your resolve against Davion, Marik's cease fire with Steiner ended as soon as you moved on Dubhe (not that it was to extend beyond the Cease Fire last night anyway, so in reality, you just prompted us to get the party started a couple hours early).
That is, if you are truly desiring to be a disruptive force within Steiner, otherwise now, you're just following orders

Assuming that one Unit may simply issue dictates to all others, such as proclaiming cease-fires, is really quite laughable. Like I said previously, there may be cease-fires between Units, but between Factions? Never!
Simply put, you cannot allow some parts of a Faction ownership/rule over other parts. If several Units wish to band together for strategic alliances and coordination, so be it, but do not expect all other Units to simply follow your lead. Simply because The Brethren are heading up an alliance of Pirate Factions does not mean that we would automatically assume all other Steiners would follow our lead. That is unfair to them and rather presumptuous and arrogant of us.
You should also keep in mind that the Holiday is the only/best time for some pilots to play. Denying them that opportunity is conceited.
As for intentionally shutting-down, disco'ing, or somehow intentionally sabotaging your team, all of that is against the Player Conduct Rules and can be reported.
